I was arrested on December 19, 2023, after someone reported me because I shared the facts about Falun Dafa with him. While I was detained, I kept my mission of saving people in mind and tried to fulfill it no matter where I was.
When I was admitted to the detention center, I told everyone that I had been wrongfully arrested for practicing Falun Dafa because the communist regime has been persecuting us practitioners. I urged them to remember “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is good” and that reciting the phrases could bring them good luck during adversity.
I used my time to recite the Fa, send righteous thoughts, and do the exercises. I didn’t try to avoid the surveillance cameras. The guards and inmates all left me alone. I knew Master was protecting me.
I rarely sing at home, but in the detention center, I sang “Falun Dafa is good” whenever I saw someone pass my cell. Sometimes, the inmates would alert me that a guard was approaching and encouraged me to quickly finish singing the song. The cell was filled with positive energy and I could feel their respect and admiration. I also treated my cellmates well and shared my food and other things with them.
As we got to know each other, I talked about Falun Dafa. I told them that Falun Dafa is here to offer salvation to the world’s people; it has been spread to over 100 countries and regions, and its books have been translated into over 40 languages. It was Jiang Zemin, the former communist regime dictator, who ordered the persecution and issued the three policies: “ruin [practitioners’] reputation, bankrupt them financially, and eliminate them physically.”
I also told them that the communist regime uses the legal system to target good people, but not its corrupt officials or the gang members who collude with them. The root cause of the issue is the communist system that established itself through numerous campaigns and the killing of innocent people. When people were forced to join the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the Youth League, or the Young Pioneers, they vowed to dedicate their lives to it. When the regime meets its fate one day, we will be implicated in its crimes because of that vow.
After understanding the seriousness of their pledges, the inmates came to me one after another, asking me to help them quit the Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. When newcomers arrived, I told them the same information. Throughout my detention, over 30 people quit the CCP, and I managed to pass the list of names to a fellow practitioner.
One of the inmates served in the military for five years and later became a village official; he was a senior Party member for over three decades. After talking with me, he agreed to quit the CCP.
I refused to attend the brainwashing sessions and instead used the time to do the exercises or send forth righteous thoughts. I usually do all five exercises two to three times a day.
One day while I was doing the exercises, three inmates in the cell did them with me. About ten minutes later, they stopped when the guard shouted at them through the speaker.
I remembered Master’s words,

I didn’t feel afraid and kept doing the exercises.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve, we celebrated with singing. I went first and sang “Falun Dafa is good,” and the others applauded enthusiastically. Then, while sitting in full lotus position, I recited “On Dafa.” I felt very warm, and my face was glowing. I was glad that all 22 people in the cell learned more about Dafa. They seemed happy too. I offered to be on duty between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m. for another inmate (I’m 70 years old, and they usually don’t assign me night shifts) which pleased the inmate.
I washed five apples and placed them on the windowsill. I put my hands together and wished Master Happy a New Year. I felt a warm current flow through my body and I was deeply moved knowing that Master is watching over us all the time. Thank you, Master.
Without prior notice, I was taken to a court in another city for a hearing on March 8, 2024. I sent strong righteous thoughts on the way to eliminate all the rotten demons and communist specters that are persecuting us.
I recited the following Fa in my head as I walked into the courtroom:
“It wouldn’t matter what kind of mighty force they assembled, the instant you started sending righteous thoughts they would all be turned to ashes, completely destroyed and unable to amount to anything.” (“20th Anniversary Fa Teaching,” Collected Teachings Given Around the World Volume XI)
At the beginning of the hearing, I demanded that all CCP members be recused because they are atheists and aren’t qualified to try Falun Dafa practitioners who hold spiritual beliefs. The judge rejected my request. My lawyer entered a not guilty plea on my behalf.
During my final statement, I held the thought that everyone in the room was once a member of Master’s family, and they are my family too; they are being held hostage by the evil communist regime and are the true victims who need to be saved.
With compassion, I pointed out that no law in China has ever criminalized Falun Dafa or labeled it a cult. Furthermore, the Chinese National Press and Publication Administration lifted the ban on Falun Gong books in 2011.
I emphasized that I did not break any laws by telling people about Falun Dafa. I appealed to the judge to deliver a fair ruling and to refrain from following the regime’s persecution of good people.
As I spoke, my mind was sharp and clear; I was enveloped in warm energy. I felt that Master was right there with me and sensed support from practitioners outside the court. I explained that Master has taught the practice to the world and I described Dafa’s mighty power and extraordinariness. I felt that this was my stage, and my aim was to save the special group of people in front of me.
The judge later sentenced me to one year. I thought to myself, “I just need to maintain my righteous thoughts and fulfill my mission as a Dafa disciple, no matter where I am.”
