(Minghui.org) Minghui.org recently reported on the wrongful conviction of 10 residents of Changde City, Hunan Province, including Ms. Yin Hong, who was given a three-year, nine-month sentence and fined 6,000 yuan ($850 USD). New information has surfaced to provide more details about her past persecution.
Ms. Yin, 54, and the nine others were targeted for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that the Chinese Communist Party has persecuted since July 1999. They were arrested between 5 and 7 a.m. on November 30, 2023, and sentenced on November 12, 2025. It is unclear if Ms. Yin is still being held at the Baiheshan Detention Center.
Before her latest prison sentence, Ms. Yin was repeatedly targeted for her faith, having served one labor camp term and two prior prison terms totaling 14 years and three months.
While she was detained, Ms. Yin’s employer, the Agriculture Bank of China, fired her. Traumatized by how she was persecuted, her husband and mother passed away. Her daughter was misled by the regime's relentless slander of Falun Gong and became estranged from her.
Multiple Short-term Detentions
Ms. Yin went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong in late February 2000 and was arrested. After she was taken back to Changde, she was first held in the Dingcheng District First Detention Center and later in a lockup. She was released after 28 days of detention.
Around June or July 2000, Ms. Yin’s employer deceived her into reporting to a brainwashing center and held her there for three days. They did the same to her in January 2001 and put her in a different brainwashing center. She went on a hunger strike in protest and was taken to the hospital for IV infusions a week later.
It is not known exactly when Ms. Yin was arrested, but she arrested at home not long after for refusing to write statements to renounce her faith. She was held at the Wuling Police Station overnight before being taken to the Dingcheng District First Detention Center the next day.
Two Years and Three Months of Forced Labor
Ms. Yin was arrested again on June 10, 2001, and taken to the Dingcheng District Second Detention Center. She refused to write statements to renounce her faith and was transferred to the Baimalong Women’s Forced Labor Camp in May 2002 to serve a two-year term.
The labor camp guards and inmates force-fed Ms. Yin every time she went on a hunger strike in protest. They pried open her mouth with a spoon to insert a sharpened bamboo tube. Two of her teeth became loose, and her mouth was injured.
Ms. Yin’s term was extended by three months. On her scheduled release day in September 2003, her employer and the Dingcheng District Political and Legal Affairs Committee took her to a hotel for brainwashing. They didn’t release her until her two sisters agreed to guarantee she would no longer practice Falun Gong.
Jailed for Eight Years
Ms. Yin was arrested on June 20, 2005, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was held in a lockup briefly. After another arrest on December 20 that year, she was sentenced to eight years by the Wuling District Court and admitted to the Hunan Province Women’s Prison on June 15, 2006.
Ms. Yin was held in the new-admission team for one month. She refused to do hard labor or wear the prisoner’s uniform. The guards handcuffed her and forced her to stand for long hours.
After she was assigned to team one (a strict management team) in Division Six, Ms. Yin was monitored around the clock by inmates Liao Zhen, Zeng Canwen, and Gong Wenjing. They forced her to stand for long hours every day, all the while verbally abusing her. Her legs became so swollen that her pants were about to burst.
The inmates also cuffed her in various ways. One torture involved twisting one of her hands behind her back and cuffing it to the other hand pulled over her shoulder from the front. Another torture involved cuffing her hands behind her and hanging her up with her toes barely touching the ground (see image below). The inmates later cuffed one of her hands so they could hang her up to the window or a bed frame.

During the torture, Ms. Yin’s mouth was also taped shut. The inmates didn’t even remove the handcuffs when she had to use the restroom. Once she passed out from the pain and didn’t recognize people when she came to.
One such cuffing-and-hanging-up torture session lasted six straight days. Ms. Yin became confused and was coerced into “giving up her faith.” After she regained clarity, she expressed her determination to keep practicing Falun Gong, only to be subjected to another six-day marathon torture session with her handcuffed and hung up.
For three months, Ms. Yin was barely able to shut her eyes while being forced to stand or being hung up. As soon as she closed her eyes, inmate Gong hit her with a club. Once when she murmured to herself, the inmates pushed her down and stomped on her mouth, causing her lips to become extremely swollen.
Ms. Yin was released on December 19, 2013. By then, she'd been severely damaged by the torture, and she was extremely weak.
Another Four-Year Sentence
Ms. Yin was arrested again on August 11, 2015, and taken to the Baiheshan Detention Center. The Wuling District Court sentenced her to four years on July 20, 2016, and she was admitted to the Hunan Province Women’s Prison on June 11, 2017.
