(Minghui.org) A 66-year-old woman in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, has been secretly sentenced to 2.5 years because she practices Falun Gong, Minghui.org recently learned.

Ms. Cai Xi was arrested at home on March 18, 2025 by officers from the Zumiao Police Station. Her Falun Gong books, computer and printer were confiscated. She was held at the Chancheng District Detention Center.

Ms. Cai’s family was notified of her wrongful conviction in early December 2025, but they were never told about her indictment or trial.

This isn’t the first time that Ms. Cai has been targeted for her faith. She was harassed by eight officers on April 12, 2016. She refused to open the door for them. They then forced her husband to return home from work at noon and let them in. When her husband criticized the police for persecuting his wife they threatened to arrest him. He followed along when they took his wife to the Zumiao Police Station and promised to release her in half an hour after asking her a few questions.

After 30 minutes of interrogation, Ms. Cai’s husband asked if they could go home. The police responded that “the policy changed” and his wife could no longer leave.

The police raided Ms. Cai’s home that afternoon and confiscated a desktop computer and some cash. She was put on criminal detention at the Shiwan Detention Center and issued a formal arrest warrant a month later.

Ms. Cai was sentenced to two years and was given a three year probation on November 3, 2017. Between November 14, 2017 and November 13, 2020, she was forced to write thought reports and report to the local justice bureau regularly. Her cell phone was also monitored and the police often came to her home to check on her. She was forced to write a statement to renounce Falun Gong on October 10, 2020 against her will. She later announced the statement was void.
