(Minghui.org) The week of December 10, 2025, International Human Rights Day, the Bulgarian Falun Dafa Association (BFDA) organized events in Sofia to tell people about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) ongoing persecution in China. Online media outlet NewsNow.bg reported on the events.
Sofia is the capital city of Bulgaria and its largest city, boasting a population of 1.29 million. Many tourists frequent the city for its rich history, which predates the Roman Empire. To raise awareness of the CCP’s persecution and garner support for practitioners in China, the Bulgarian practitioners began their events two days in advance of Human Rights Day, in the central region of the city.
Motorcade Through the Heart of the City
On Monday, December 8, 2025, practitioners held a motorcade with the theme “Stop the CCP from Killing Practitioners for Their Organs.” This was the second year in a row that this procession was held in Sofia.
The banners on the cars, written in Bulgarian, included the following messages: “The CCP Uses Torture and Murder to Destroy Falun Gong,” “The CCP Is Carrying Out Large-Scale Medical Genocide,” “The CCP’s Goal Is World Domination. Enslavement and Plunder, Disguised as Investment,” “The CCP Harvests Organs From Falun Dafa Practitioners,” “To Stop the Killings—End the CCP!”
There were also banners with photos of the physical violence against practitioners on Tiananmen Square.
Other banners contained messages about the practice of Falun Dafa, with the words Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance in Bulgarian and Chinese. On one of the cars, the banner read: “Falun Dafa—An Ancient Practice for Improving Mind and Body.”
The convoy of 13 cars which were escorted by police cars, drove along the main boulevards of Sofia’s spacious city center and stopped for 30 minutes in the “Triangle of Power” – the buildings of the Presidency, the National Assembly, and the Council of Ministers.
The motorcade route included the most important state institutions: In addition to the Presidency, the Council of Ministers, and the National Assembly, it also included the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, the European Parliament building, the National Bank of Bulgaria, the National Art Gallery (the former Royal Palace), theaters and trade union headquarters, the Embassy of the Republic of Austria, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, party headquarters, and other institutions located in the wider center of the capital.
On the sidewalk near the main entrance to the Presidency, where the honor guard attracts residents and visitors to the city, a tent was set up as an information centre for Falun Dafa practitioners. In addition to informational materials, people could sign petitions that traditionally accompany events organized by Bulgarian practitioners: the petition calling for an end to violence against Falun Gong practitioners in China, the G7+7 petition, and a petition to the Bulgarian government to ban Bulgarian citizens from being involved in medical treatment and transplants in China.
During the motorcade, a special audio recording recounted the persecution of Falun Gong in China, which has been going on for 26 years; about the lives of Falun Dafa practitioners in China, who, through cruelty and prohibitions, are deprived of the right to follow their spiritual teaching, Falun Dafa, and often pay with their lives. The recording was also played while the cars were parked in the Triangle of Power.

Peyo Ivanov, president of the BFDA, read an appeal calling for an end to the “cold genocide” of Falun Dafa practitioners in China, including the forced organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners, and for their right to spiritual life to be respected.
In his speech, he recalled that the European Parliament adopted three resolutions (in 2013, 2022, and 2024) condemning the forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China and he called on the EU and its member states to publicly condemn organ transplant abuses in China.
He also called on member states to take the necessary steps to prevent transplant tourism to China by their citizens and to raise awareness of this issue among their citizens who travel to China.
The event was covered by a reporter from the online media outlet NewsNow.bg. “The purpose of events in Sofia is to give publicity to these violations and to call on international institutions and governments to condemn crimes against humanity committed in China. The Association emphasizes that the principles of the practice – truth, kindness and patience – are at the heart of their peaceful initiatives,” the outlet said in its report.
Danior, an Uzbek working in Bulgaria, took a selfie in front of the cars with messages and said, “Here in Bulgaria, you have freedom of speech, and you can say what you think and do it in front of the Presidency. Bravo for defending the human rights of these people [Falun Gong practitioners in China]!”
