(Minghui.org) During the more than 20 years I practiced law in China I found that it has become a tool used by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials to target minorities and the general public. I am sad to see that people who once placed their hope and trust in the law have now become its victims.
I’d like to tell you what I’ve observed because I wish to help people see the true face of the CCP.
From Hope to Disappointment
Born in the 1970s, I had big dreams, and wanted to become a lawyer in order to pursue justice, fairness, and upright values. I firmly believed that everyone was equal before the law—I felt it was the last line of defense to uphold morality, and that no one should be above it. So I entered the legal profession after graduating from college.
There is a Chinese saying, “Wearing a hat pointed at both ends, judges often take bribes from both the plaintiff and the defendant.” I didn’t believe this, and I chose to work in a court. For ordinary citizens, the court represents justice. Because of my talents and my CCP membership, officials said my future was promising.
After some time, I found that the CCP officials said one thing but did another. The law in China is not universal—when laws contradict those in power, people are no longer equal.
As I continued working for the court, it no longer seemed that the law was sacred. Many vulnerable groups did not get justice. I decided to leave my highly coveted position in the government system and I became a lawyer.
In the beginning, through my unwavering determination and strong belief in the law, I gained recognition and became well-known in the local area. No matter what kind of dispute it was, I could usually analyze the situation and reach a conclusion based on my experience and practical knowledge. When others struggled to find clients, people were lining up to hire me for their lawsuits.
After the CCP began to suppress Falun Gong in 1999, especially after 2015, my faith in the law was overturned. I knew that Falun Gong practitioners were innocent, and they were striving to be better citizens by following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They have not violated the law. In fact, they are the best people I’ve met.
After the persecution started, however, officials stopped people from practicing Falun Gong. The justice bureaus across China had an internal policy which prohibited lawyers from accepting cases related to Falun Gong—they also did not allow lawyers to practice Falun Gong. Some lawyers with a conscience secretly helped with cases related to Falun Gong, but nearly all their licenses were revoked. I had also been secretly helping practitioners. After someone reported me to the authorities, I was forced to stop practicing as a lawyer.
Awareness and Awakening
Even though I no longer had a license, people still came to me. Seeing how hopeless they felt I was touched, and used my knowledge of the law to help them. But then I found the situation changing. Instead of serving its intended purpose, the law had now become a tool the CCP used to suppress people and make money. It silences anyone that opposes it.
This situation worsened in 2025. The CCP intentionally created various issues which forced people to file lawsuits. This allowed the court to collect litigation fees. In the past, ordinary citizens could represent themselves in court. The CCP began restricting this in 2015, so people are now forced to hire lawyers. The Party then bribes and controls lawyers for its own benefit.
Almost everything in China is controlled by the CCP—including the police, the procuratorate, the court, the justice system, lawyers, and businesses. Numerous problems surfaced, such as car loans, mortgages, credits cards, various bank and non-bank loans, land expropriation, and estate registration. Individuals and businesses in China are exploited and victimized by the CCP, one way or another.
Master Li, founder of Falun Gong, wrote: “The evil specter behind the wicked Party has used people in this world to harm others.” (“Stay Clearheaded”) I agree with this. A pattern of mutual harm has emerged in China. My belief in the law collapsed due to these lawsuits.
A civil case caused me to begin doubting the legal system. The plaintiffs should have clearly won the case, but the judge ruled against them, even though a three-year-old could understand the right and wrong of the case. Because some government officials were involved, the appeal, the second instance of the trial, and petitions were useless.
This was the first injustice I witnessed. I observed many similar cases, and lots of people who were treated unfairly reached out to me. Even criminal cases had a large number of injustices. The so-called error correction system is just a ploy to deceive people.
Through years of observation I realized that China’s legal system is used by the CCP to fool people, so I felt I needed to expose it, and I believe many legal professionals agree. Why? Because I’ve seen lawyers and people who work in the legal system change jobs or ask to be resigned, simply because they don’t want to be complicit in wrongdoing.
When I talk with them, some say, “The law has been corrupt for years!” When I mention Falun Gong, they comment, “It would great if more people practiced Falun Gong. Those people are the best.”
Everyone Is a Victim
A large number of officials in the justice system were arrested recently, from the Supreme Court to the Supreme Procuratorate, from the Ministry of Justice to the Ministry of Public Security, from province-level or county-level officials to country and town-level ones. These arrests show that although these officials followed the CCP’s directives and did bad deeds, they have become its scapegoats. The truth is, they are also its victims.
These days few industries in China are making money. People try various ways to deceive others in order to get money. When the CCP creates conflicts like this and abuses the law, everyone loses.
I want to remind people that they can no longer trust the legal process in China because justice and fairness no longer exist. As long as the CCP exists, people will continue suffering. China will have hope only when the CCP ends. The CCP will not change. It has brought endless sorrow to the Chinese people, as explained in the book Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. I suggest people read this or Falun Gong materials, because doing so will help us see the true picture.
Where Is the Solution?
China has been known as the land of the divine (shen zhou) since ancient times. For thousands of years Chinese people believed we were blessed by the divine. People were respectful and kind. After the CCP usurped power, everything changed—people’s minds became filled with class struggle, hatred, and lies.
In its persecution of Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, the CCP abuses the law and targets practitioners, sending Chinese society on a path of no return. When thousands of Chinese citizens, including Falun Gong practitioners, sued former CCP leader Jiang Zemin for persecuting Falun Gong, this was another opportunity the divine gave the CCP to rectify its actions.
But the CCP ignored it. It instead mobilized the police, the procuratorate, the courts, and various government agencies to continue persecuting people involved in these lawsuits. This further distorted the justice system, and the CCP’s fate is inevitable.
The CCP recently started claiming that it, “rules the country according to the law.” This is another big lie. Countless petitioners come to Beijing every day because their rights were violated. The CCP created these problems but uses every means to block them, so how can this situation change?
Because these problems were caused by the CCP they will not be resolved as long as the CCP exists. By renouncing our memberships in the CCP organizations, like more than 450 million Chinese already have, we will no longer be controlled by it.
When more people abandon the CCP and its ideology, China will see a new era.
