Belated News: Jilin Man Sentenced to 4 Years for Practicing Falun Gong

Dec. 26, 2025 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Jilin Province, China

(Minghui.org) Minghui.org recently reported that the Gongzhuling Prison in Jilin Province established a “strict management training team” in order to force jailed Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their faith.

Mr. Wu Dexiu, a resident of Jiaohe City, Jilin Province, was listed as one of the practitioners held in the training team. An earlier report indicated that he was arrested on May 13, 2022, but there were no updates on his case status.

New information has emerged to provide more details about Mr. Wu’s persecution. His younger brother received a notice from the Shulan City Court on February 9, 2023 saying that Mr. Wu had been sentenced to four years and fined 5,000 yuan. The notice did not indicate when he was indicted, tried, or sentenced. Both Shulan and Jiaohe are under the administration of Jilin City.

The Gongzhuling Prison notified Mr. Wu’s brother on February 18, 2023 that he had been transferred there.

Mr. Wu took up Falun Gong in June 1996. Prior to his latest prison sentence, he served three labor terms totaling four years and three months (February 22, 2000 – June 1, 2001, February 9, 2002 – February 9, 2004, and July 20, 2011 – July 1, 2012).

Mr. Wu was also briefly detained multiple times. He was arrested on August 29, 2015 and detained for 10 days. After another arrest on July 16, 2021, he was detained for 15 days. A group of street committee workers knocked on his door in early May 2022. He ignored them, and they called in his landlord to open the door. They took him to do a COVID-19 test before releasing him.

See the second related report for details of Mr. Wu’s past persecution.
