(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 7 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 23 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Xiumin Sentenced to One Year and Three Months
2. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Case Against Ms. Yu Mei and Ms. Wu Shaochuan Submitted to the Procuratorate
3. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Four Practitioners Appealed to the Intermediate Court
4. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Thirteen Practitioners Arrested and Some Still Detained
5. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Du Bing Arrested
6. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhou Lihua Arrested
7. [Beijing] Update about Ms. Xu Na’s Detention Location
1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Xiumin Sentenced to One Year and Three Months
Ms. Zhang Xiumin from the Changchun Automobile Factory was arrested by Dongfeng Boulevard Police Station officers on July 18, 2024. It was recently learned that she has been sentenced to one year and three months in prison and is currently detained in the Changchun City Prison Administration Center.
2. [Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province] Case Against Ms. Yu Mei and Ms. Wu Shaochuan Submitted to the Procuratorate
Ms. Yu Mei and Ms. Wu Shaochuan were followed and arrested on September 16, 2024, and their homes were ransacked. The two practitioners are currently detained in the Zhanjiang City Detention Center. Their case has been submitted to the Chikan District Procuratorate.
3. [Meizhou City, Guangdong Province] Four Practitioners Appealed to the Intermediate Court
Four practitioners from Xingning City—Mr. Li Zhuozhong and his wife Ms. Liao Yuanqun, Ms. Liao Juanna, and Mr. Xie Yujun—were sentenced to prison in December 2024. The Meizhou City Intermediate Court accepted their appeals on January 7, 2024. While the appeals court didn’t prevent their lawyers from reviewing their case documents like the first instance court, they did order the lawyers to sign a confidential agreement not to release information about their case to the public.
Judge Chen Limin said to Ms. Liao while deposing her, “Why are you appealing? Even if you do, we will rule to uphold your original verdict. It’s useless to file the appeal.”
4. [Macheng City, Hubei Province] Thirteen Practitioners Arrested in One Day
Thirteen practitioners were arrested around December 19, 2024. They are: Ms. Xiao Jingtang, Ms. Liang Xiaozhu, Ms. Yuan Xiuxia, Ms. Zeng Jinhuan, Ms. Zhang Yufeng, Ms. Liu Wenzhen, Ms. Zhang Qiongfang, Ms. Tian Yinhua, Ms. Jiang Yanling, Ms. Liang Fengmei, Mr. Cheng Longjian, Mr. Song Puzhen, Ms. Li Aifeng, and Ms. Zhu Futao.
Four practitioners are still being detained: Ms. Xiao, Ms. Liang Xiaozhu and Ms. Yuan are being held in the Huanggang City Detention Center and Ms. Zhang Yefeng is in the Macheng City Detention House. The other practitioners have been released.
5. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Mr. Du Bing Arrested
Mr. Du Bing was arrested on the morning of December 31, 2024, for talking to people about Falun Gong by officers from the Huifeng Police Station in the Jiancaoping District. His laptop was confiscated.
6. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhou Lihua Arrested
Ms. Zhou Lihua from the Guiqiao Residential Community in Mengyang Town was arrested on the morning of January 22, 2025, by community staff members for talking to people about Falun Gong at the Nanxing Town Farm Market. She was taken to the Nanxing Town Police Station and released that afternoon.
7. [Beijing] Update about Ms. Xu Na’s Detention Location
Minghui.org recently confirmed that Ms. Xu Na is being held in the Dongcheng District Detention Center. She was sentenced to eight years in 2022 and transferred from the Dongcheng District Detention Center to the Beijing Women’s Prison in September 2023. She was in prison for only two months before being transferred to an unknown location. It wasn’t until recently that we confirmed her whereabouts.
