(Minghui.org) After reading Master’s article “Critical Times Reveal One’s Spiritual State,” I understand that now is the “critical time” he is referring to. Situations during this critical time not only advance Fa-rectification but also present tests for every practitioner. Every test is related to our improvement—whether or not all beings can be saved, and whether or not we can truly walk our final paths well.
What Should We Do When Faced with Challenges?
Master made it very clear in the article: “And what really matters is whether people’s thoughts and motives make the grade ...”
This sentence points out the crux of the matter—cultivation is about cultivating one’s mind. Every conflict, distraction, and slander is a test to see whether we can evaluate it based on the Fa, maintain righteous thoughts, and not be disturbed.
Over the years, media attacks, people’s misunderstanding of Dafa, and even the changes in the cultivation environment have all tested whether we truly believe in Master and the Fa. Many of these difficulties are not caused by outside influences, but by practitioners’ mindsets. Whether we can overcome them depends on whether we are able to look at things from the Fa’s perspective.
Then how do we maintain righteous thinking at critical times? We need to remember to look inward and find our problems when we encounter conflicts so we can improve. Steadfast practitioners won’t waver because of external interference but will always reference the Fa and rectify themselves. Especially at this critical time, we must let go of our selfishness, attachments, and personal grudges and not let the old forces take advantage of us or affect our mission of saving sentient beings.
Cultivators always view things from the perspective of the Fa rather than measuring them using human concepts, emotion, or the desire for fame or gain.
Master spoke about a practitioner in “Teachings at the 2005 Conference in San Francisco,” whose leg bones were crushed and fractured because of torture, but she persevered in studying the Fa with righteous thoughts. When she was able to sit up she did the exercises. Now, she is perfectly fine and can jump and run.
Master said:
“Continue to do whatever you are supposed to. Don’t become attached to it by looking at it in a human way, and don’t make these problems worse in your minds. Look very righteously at how it relates to everything else and don’t think of it as being very important, and be very calm.” (Teachings at the 2005 Conference in San Francisco)
At this critical time, we must especially cherish our cultivation environment, cherish this opportunity to assist Master in Fa-rectification and saving sentient beings, and not allow any selfish thoughts or interference to affect our mission. Our hearts must be stable, and our righteous thoughts must be strong. Master reminded us that time is running out, so we should walk the final path well.
Articles in which cultivators share their understandings typically reflect an individual's perception at a point in time based on their cultivation state, and they are offered in the spirit of enabling mutual elevation.
