(Minghui.org) A married couple in Ju’nan County, Shandong Province, are facing prosecution for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Hou Shihua, 64, and his wife, Ms. Meng Fancui, were arrested at home on February 24, 2025. The police seized their key and returned the next day to confiscate their printer, media player and other personal items.
The couple, who ran a small business, were taken to the Linyi City Detention Center on the same day of their arrest. Ms. Meng, who failed the physical examination initially, was taken to the hospital for injection. Their family and lawyer visited them on March 6. The lawyer learned around mid-March that the police had submitted their case to the local procuratorate and that the police followed Mr. Hou for a long time before making the arrests.
Since the persecution started in 1999, the couple have had their home ransacked numerous times and frequently harassed by the local police. Officers from the Chengnan Police Station harassed them every year in the past few years.
