(Minghui.org) It’s recently confirmed by Minghui.org that a Fushun City, Liaoning Province, resident has been sentenced to four years for practicing Falun Gong, which has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Yang Shuqin was arrested on December 7, 2023, after being reported by two young men for talking to them about the health benefits of Falun Gong. The 62-year-old woman credits Falun Gong for enabling her to recover from various long-term ailments, including migraines, insomnia, eye disease, numbness on the right side of the body, and stomach disease. She hoped more people could understand the facts about this ancient spiritual and meditation discipline and benefit from it, instead of following the communist regime’s propaganda to resent it.

More than ten officers from the Xinfu Police Station raided Ms. Yang’s home. They turned the place upside down and confiscated her family member’s computer and printer. Her family was notified around 10 p.m. that she had been put in criminal detention at the Fushun City Detention Center.

Ms. Yang’s family has not received any update about her case since then. They only recently confirmed her prison sentence and her admission to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison, but details about her indictment, trial, and sentencing still are not clear.

Ms. Yang is the sixth Falun Gong practitioner who has been sentenced to prison since the beginning of the year.

Ms. Wei Shaomin, 83, was sentenced to three years; Ms. Sun Wenwen, 77, was sentenced to four years with a 16,000-yuan fine; Ms. Wang Hongxia, 67, was also given a four-year term. All three of them have been admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison.

Mr. Chen Jiuwen, 71, was arrested at home on October 30, 2023, by the police from Songyuan City, Jilin Province. According to insiders, the police targeted him after discovering he posted Falun Gong information on WeChat (a popular Chinese social media platform) using his cell phone. It’s not clear whether he used his phone while visiting Songyuan City. He was later sentenced to two and a half years by the Songyuan City Court.

Mr. Zhang Huiqiang, 58, who once worked as an engineer at the Fushun Ethylene Chemical Factory, was arrested on October 21, 2024. He stood trial on March 6, 2025, and was later sentenced to four and a half years. He is now appealing to the Shenyang City Intermediate Court.

In addition to the six practitioners, another ten practitioners, including Mr. Wang Nanfang, Mr. Zhou Shuyou, Mr. Wang Zexing, Ms. Hu Fengju, Ms. Hu Mingli, Mr. Liu Haitao, Mr. Wang Guogang (previously erroneously reported as Wang Guozhong), Ms. Huang Yuping, Ms. Li Suqin (previously erroneously reported as Li Shuqin), and Ms. Lai Chunlian, are facing trial by the Wanghua District Court.
