Ms. Shi Fuling in her younger years

Ms. Shi Fuling, who would now be around 60, used to work at the Botou City Food Processing Factory. She soon recovered her health after she took up Falun Gong. After the factory laid her off, she opened a convenience store to make a living.

Several plainclothes officers arrested Ms. Shi at her store on October 4, 2007. They ransacked her property, confiscating many personal items, and then dragged her into a police vehicle. They pulled off her top in front of the crowd to humiliate her.

After interrogating Ms. Shi at the Dikouwang Township Police Station, the police took her to the Botou City Detention Center. She was brutally tortured while in custody. At her family's insistence, Zhao Dongsheng and Huang Chunzhu, director and deputy director of the Botou City Domestic Security Division, released her after extorting 10,000 yuan from them.

Upon returning home, Ms. Shi suffered a mental breakdown and was in a delirious state. She cried every day and would wander off on her own. She went missing on November 10, 2009, never to be seen again.
