(Minghui.org) Living in a communist country such as Vietnam, it is important for practitioners to study the Fa and eliminate our ordinary notions and attachments. This is not only important for our own cultivation, but it also relates to the country’s future.
1. What Is Happening to the Integrity of Vietnam’s Cultivation Environment?
Master wrote an article specifically to Vietnam practitioners in 2018. He clearly stated:
“So our practitioners in Vietnam should maintain their composure during this unusual time, and for now not engage in large-scale activities meant to raise awareness—much less take countermeasures. Cultivation is about working on oneself, after all, and removing attachments, so for the time being you can study the Fa and do the exercises mainly on your own, and not organize large group-study sessions or exercises.” (“To the Practitioners of Vietnam”)
Yet, from 2018 until now, there have been numerous events—both large and small—that have gone against what was clearly instructed in the writing. From organizing large group exercise sites, to experience sharing conferences involving hundreds of people, and more recently, proposed large-scale character formation activities. Not to mention certain truth-clarification efforts that failed to consider local conditions, resulting in increased pressure on the current environment.
Despite these locally coordinated efforts, https://vn.minghui.org/ still regularly publishes Master’s new articles. And yet, rumors began to spread—claiming that the Minghui website was sold, or that another one was compromised. More seriously, there are even assertions that “the situation has changed” and Master’s 2018 article is no longer relevant. How is this different from an outright denial of Master’s teachings?
As a practitioner, I truly cannot understand why such distorted understandings are still believed by so many fellow practitioners. Is this merely a difference in our understandings, or are these signs of sabotage by agents?
Master taught:
“CCP special agents who have infiltrated the Vietnamese government have, in order to shift the pressure away, used money, diplomatic means, and business interests to persuade the government to suppress Falun Gong practitioners. It has done this in hopes of shifting the attention of the international community and mitigating the pressure it has brought upon itself by persecuting Falun Gong in China.” (“To the Practitioners of Vietnam”)
Thanks to Master’s arrangement, I personally experienced the depth of this cautionary passage.
In 2024, an agent in our area voluntarily revealed his identity. He had been seriously studying the Fa and practicing the exercises, even showing better conduct than many other practitioners. He was well-liked at the Fa study group and exercise site.
However, he also displayed suspicious behaviors, such as trying to extract information from the site coordinator. Though the coordinator had no concrete evidence, she advised him not to make serious mistakes to disrupt the Fa. The man ignored the advice and had a traffic accident—fortunately not life-threatening.
The coordinator was concerned, and met with him again, urging him to stop engaging in anything inappropriate, as it could place his safety at risk. The man still denied being an agent, but just days later he was in another accident. It seemed that divine beings were still protecting him, as he again escaped major harm. He then met with the coordinator and confessed he was an agent.
He said he had to submit weekly reports about the local environment, including information about Fa study groups and exercise sites. He was also assigned to investigate certain matters (details omitted for safety). However, he insisted that he never said anything bad about Dafa.
He added that there were many agents in our area, none of whom knew each other’s identities. Each uses code names and a dedicated communication tool. After his confession, he was transferred elsewhere.
Our city isn’t large, yet it has so many agents! This lends credibility to suspicions I’ve had all along. But why are these agents so eager to promote activities that go against the 2018 writing? How far can this influence go? And why is it spreading so widely? After all, these are cultivation- related activities: Fa study, group exercises, and experience sharing conferences. What is the true conspiracy? Who is being used? And who are the masterminds?
2. The Plot Thickens
Thanks to Master’s arrangement, I was again able to learn about matters on a higher level. While the previous agent’s story revealed how interference was happening locally, I later came to understand what was occurring at a ministerial level.
There was one official who, from the day he took office, was constantly pressured to deal with the issue of Falun Dafa. However, this individual had already understood the truth about Dafa and tried to avoid handling the matter throughout his term. Yet the pressure from higher levels continued without pause.
Under this official, was another individual who, from the moment of appointment, aggressively interfered with our activities. He was quite notorious and whenever Falun Dafa was mentioned, people thought of him. That individual has now lost his position and is entangled in legal troubles.
What opened my eyes was that after this person was prosecuted, many of his colleagues in the agency borrowed Dafa books to learn more. In truth, many beings who hold special positions within certain organizations still retain their Buddha-nature. Deep down, they know they came here for a purpose. They have been waiting to know the truth about Dafa!
On at least three occasions, I’ve heard officials—whom fellow practitioners previously thought were hostile—say, once in a safe space, that they believe Dafa is good, and expressed respect for practitioners.
However, they also believe that many agents have infiltrated Dafa groups, and they’re aware that some of them, due to having hot tempers or personal biases, may act out in specific situations. But never did they believe that there was a coordinated campaign by the entire Vietnamese government to persecute Dafa.
As Master taught:
“But as higher beings see it, it was only inevitable that those evil things would resist being eliminated, as was fated, during the cosmos’s purification. So they caused the tremendous pressure in the human world, and especially in China, for all lives as well as practitioners, and brought about the chaotic and degenerate phenomena that have appeared in society. The evil specter of Chinese communism alone cannot account for all this; righteous gods would have destroyed it the moment it started to persecute spiritual cultivators. Now, with the persecution having gone on for nearly twenty years, that accumulation of evil things has been wiped out. And the evil specter that is Chinese communism is likewise in the final stage of being annihilated. It’s not possible for anyone to again launch something like the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, as the evil factors in other dimensions are gone; human beings couldn’t do anything like that without the support of massive evil forces.” (“To the Practitioners of Vietnam”)
On the surface, it’s clear that a 1999-style crackdown is no longer possible. So why are CCP agents embedded in the Vietnamese government still actively engaging and directing lower-level agents to stir up trouble?
My understanding is that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is trying to push Vietnam into committing crimes against Dafa, thereby creating a pretext to eliminate large numbers of sentient beings. To smear Dafa on a large scale, the event must be explosive—like a bomb going off. The CCP will try to repeat what it did in China to ruin practitioners’ reputations, and push for propaganda similar to the “Tiananmen Self-immolation” hoax and “1400 Alleged Deaths,” in which people were misled to believe that practitioners take their own or others’ lives and were far from conducting themselves by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Interference in our area continues to happen, but it’s mostly minor, and we’re able to clarify the truth proactively. So it’s hard to justify that there will be a government-level crackdown.
Let’s look at an example:
In 2019, an incident intended to damage Dafa’s reputation in Vietnam occurred. Many media outlets suddenly reported that a “strange cult” was accused of murder and cementing a corpse. Oddly, Chinese-language media broke the story before Vietnamese outlets did—this alone was suspicious. Shortly after, Vietnamese papers switched the label from “strange cult” to “Falun Gong.”
Yet when the case went to trial a year later, no media was allowed to record or publicly attend the court session. Ultimately, a short video surfaced online showing both the defendants and judge stating clearly that the case had nothing to do with Falun Gong. But this detail was almost completely ignored in mainstream media.
This defamation led many to misunderstand Dafa’s true nature, and the CCP’s fingerprints were all over it. Though it looked like an ordinary criminal case, the way it was handled reveals deep manipulation.
The CCP-run media used a sinister tactic—accusing Dafa of being responsible for a horrific crime—similar to the Tiananmen self- immolation hoax.
However, this attempt failed to deceive Vietnam into suppressing Falun Gong and replicating the start of the persecution in 1999.
So what else can the CCP do to create their “pretext”?
Master taught:
“Be it Vietnam, Cuba, or North Korea—when China’s communist regime falls, they will fall too. Their existence was arranged to inflate the CCP’s morale a bit. If the CCP were really left all by itself, those [CCP] people wouldn’t be able to so much as lift their heads before the world. The fact is, it is the old forces’ arrangement. What disciples of Dafa care about is cultivating themselves; it’s because the vile CCP started to persecute Falun Gong that Dafa disciples have been, in response to the vile CCP’s persecution, exposing it and dismantling its persecution. The root is in China. When the CCP’s factors disintegrate, all those others will disintegrate. There is no need to do anything about them specifically. Although those are all societies under the vile Party’s rule, no persecution of Dafa disciples has taken place there. So you don’t need to make a priority of them. In the future, when the CCP collapses, all of them will collapse and be done with. So right now we aren’t going to touch them.” (Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Los Angeles)
From my level of understanding, I believe these agents want to engineer something similar to the April 25th, 1999 peaceful appeal in China, in which the public was misled into opposing a peaceful group.
On the surface, they’re trying to exploit the issue of human rights.
First, they need a large-scale incident to frame practitioners as a threat to the government. That’s why large gatherings are being pushed. Their ultimate goal is to label Dafa practitioners in Vietnam as being politically motivated rather than peaceful cultivators.
Second, they need small-scale disturbances across various regions to undermine the image of Dafa practitioners and incite social aversion. These include slanderous campaigns and the manipulation of new or misguided practitioners.
Until now, they’ve mostly focused on the latter strategy. But local practitioners have matured and become more adept at validating the Fa. So the CCP has been unable to ignite an incident that would push the Vietnamese government into violating human rights and diverting global attention away from China.
That’s why efforts by the Falun Dafa Association to safeguard the environment are constantly being disrupted. False rumors from both within and outside Vietnam have aimed to fracture the whole body of practitioners and ruin the hope of salvation for a large number of sentient beings.
So now that the plot is clear—what should Vietnamese practitioners do in this extraordinary period?
While agents are infiltrating and manipulating the cultivation environment from within, external factors are also moving rapidly. Everything points to one fact: Vietnam stands at a critical crossroads in the battle between righteousness and evil. Every move this nation makes has crucial implications for the overall situation. The stance Vietnam takes directly affects the cultivation of all Vietnamese practitioners.
Let’s now look at surface-level worldly affairs—specifically the U.S.–China trade war—to better understand Vietnam’s key position.
3. Surface Manifestation of Fa-Rectification – The U.S.–China Trade War and Vietnam’s Pivotal Role
I) The Deeper Nature of the War
The U.S.–China trade war is not merely a battle over currency or tariffs. From a cultivator’s perspective, it represents a confrontation between two value systems: One side represents freedom, divine belief, and lawful order. The other is a totalitarian, atheist regime.
The U.S. has repeatedly made it clear that their target is not the Chinese people, but the CCP regime— which is fundamentally at odds with the universal values of mankind.
II) Economic Leverage Tilting Toward the U.S.
-China exports three times more to the U.S than it imports from the U.S., so if equal tariffs are imposed, China bears a much heavier burden.
-The U.S. can easily shift its imports to Southeast Asia or third-world nations, whereas China would struggles to replace American high-tech products, aircraft, or military gear.
-China is currently facing overproduction, with unsold goods piling up. A loss of additional export markets could lead to an economic crisis. Internal pressure is mounting, and even a small spark could collapse the system.
III) The Weapon of Resistance: Rare Earths
China holds around 70% of the global rare earth supply—critical materials used in producing chips, electric vehicles, and advanced weaponry. However, if China bans rare earth exports to the U.S., the U.S. could retaliate by cutting off chip exports—something China absolutely depends on. This is why China’s ambition toward Taiwan—the global center for chip manufacturing—is becoming increasingly obvious.
4. Vietnam: A Chess Piece – and a Decisive Factor
-Vietnam holds one of the world’s largest reserves of rare earth elements.
-Vietnam also ranks third globally in the number of Falun Dafa practitioners.
-With its strategic geopolitical location and valuable resources, Vietnam has become a hot spot—a “focal point” that both sides want to influence.
“Dafa disciples are validating the Great Law, and they should not be attached to the outcome of the vile Party’s meeting. This is because everything in human society exists for Dafa and for Dafa disciples’ cultivation. Whether something be upright or wicked, all the same it can only act in accordance with the needs of Dafa.” (“Comment on a Student’s Article,” Essentials for Diligent Progress III)
If Vietnam chooses to align with the U.S., it will experience rapid economic growth—and the U.S. is eager for such cooperation. However, the CCP cannot allow Vietnam to escape its influence, as that would mark the unraveling of China’s regional sphere of control.
5. The CCP’s Strategy: Forcing Vietnam to Violate Human Rights
The CCP cannot go to war with or sanction Vietnam—as it also relies on Vietnam to consume its goods.
But it can push Vietnam into committing human rights violations, which would prompt the global community to turn against Vietnam, preventing cooperation with the U.S. and the civilized world.
This is why practitioners must be crystal clear: Any large-scale truth-clarification activities could be exploited as a trigger for this plot.
6. What Should Vietnamese Practitioners Choose?
From my perspective, the current wave of agitation is deeply insidious. We understand that once a person obtains the Fa and realizes the meaning of life, they will earnestly want to do the three things well—to speak out for truth and follow their conscience.
The defamation efforts used by these forces over the years have failed to shake the faith of Vietnamese practitioners. Most Vietnamese cultivators began their practice after the persecution started—they understood right from wrong and still chose the path of cultivation.
On the other hand, after Vietnam’s cultural revolution and reform period, traditional values and the heritage of cultivation practice have become very faint. The Party culture has deeply influenced moral norms. Moreover, the Vietnamese language is not Chinese, which creates certain difficulties in Fa-study. As a result, many Vietnamese practitioners remain at a perceptual level of understanding of the Fa, rather than a deeper one.
Therefore, most destructive acts by agents are carried out under the banner of “safeguarding Dafa”—spreading notions like “the situation has changed,” or that Master’s 2018 article is outdated.
There is only one way to clearly recognize this sinister scheme: Strictly follow Master’s words and take the Fa as Teacher.
Only by understanding the Fa with rationality can we distinguish right from wrong, look inward at our own hearts, and view things correctly. If one’s xinxing has not yet matured, we can still refer to Minghui’s stance on current developments.
Let me end this sharing with the following passages, which serve as a reminder for all of us:
“Just quietly observe things. If anyone tries to stir things up, there are problems on that person’s part! Be sure to keep this in mind.” (“To the Practitioners of Vietnam”)
“Zhen, Shan, and Ren—being genuine, kind, and composed—are universal values recognized by everyone, and only stand to benefit any people or nation. Even if you do meet with persecution, you should still handle everything with the benevolence of someone on the spiritual path. As a steadfast practitioner you can, just by not letting anything affect you, prevail over any situation.” (“To the Practitioners of Vietnam”)
Articles in which cultivators share their understandings typically reflect an individual's perception at a point in time based on their cultivation state, and they are offered in the spirit of enabling mutual elevation.
