(Minghui.org) A Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, resident has been detained since November 20, 2024, for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Fu Hong, her brother, and sister-in-law traveled to Tianjin to visit their ill uncle on November 20, 2024. After her brother and sister-in-law passed the security checkpoint, Ms. Fu was stopped by a security guard. He searched her bag and seized her after finding Falun Gong books and an electronic reader.
The train station police called the Yanshan Boulevard Police Station, which oversees Ms. Fu’s second home. Officers from the Yanshan Boulevard Police Station soon arrived at the train station and took her to her second home, without producing their police IDs or revealing their names. They opened the door with the keys forcibly taken from her and raided the place when no one was around.
Ms. Fu’s case was later transferred to the Xigang Road Police Station, which is in charge of her primary residence. The latter raided that home soon after.
Despite the fact that Ms. Fu was found to have high blood pressure and a rapid heart rate, the Qinhuangdao City Detention Center nonetheless admitted her and barred her family from visiting her. Her family has hired a lawyer to represent her.
Zhao Jibo, the deputy chief of Xigang Road Police Station, submitted Ms. Fu’s case to the Haigang District Procuratorate on December 5, 2024. The Falun Gong books, informational materials, 5,000 yuan in paper currency imprinted with information about Falun Gong, and portraits of Falun Gong’s founder confiscated from her two residences were all included as prosecution evidence against her.
The prosecutor returned Ms. Fu’s case to the police weeks later. The police submitted it the second time on March 15, 2025.
Ms. Fu took up Falun Gong in 1998, after witnessing how her mother, Ms. Xu Huiying, recovered from various ailments after practicing Falun Gong. After the persecution started, Ms. Xu went to Beijing in late 1999 to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. She was arrested, escorted back to Qinhuangdao, and detained for more than ten days. Upon returning, she began to experience various medical conditions. Her fear further intensified when a former good friend of hers attempted to take her to a brainwashing center shortly after.
After Ms. Fu’s arrest in 2001, her parents gradually became withdrawn due to fear of the persecution. Her father had a stroke and so did her mother. They passed away after being bedridden for two years. While still mourning her parents’ passing, Ms. Fu was arrested again in 2009 and held in a labor camp for 13 months.
