Shu Nan, editor-in-chief of The Epoch Times in San Francisco
Shu Nan, editor-in-chief of The Epoch Times in San Francisco, said, “The CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong is not only a persecution of practitioners but also a persecution of traditional Chinese culture. I believe that for China to find its future, it must restore faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. And to restore that faith, we must first support Falun Gong’s efforts to call for an end to the persecution.
“The persecution has lasted for 26 years. All Chinese people must first recognize the evil nature of the CCP and do what they can to help disintegrate it, by withdrawing from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Only with the disintegration of the CCP can this persecution end. Only then can China have a bright future.”
Dr. Hsin-Chieh Chou, former president of the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco, supports Falun Gong practitioners’ efforts to protest the persecution.
Dr. Hsin-Chieh Chou, former president of the Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce in San Francisco, stated that over the past 26 years, Falun Gong practitioners have protested the CCP’s atrocities and raised awareness of the CCP’s nature to people around the world, giving the world a chance to understand what the CCP really is. He said that practitioners have played an extremely important role.
“The CCP threatens democracy and human rights worldwide,” he said. “Domestically, it persecutes Falun Gong. In Hong Kong, it destroys democracy. The CCP fears Taiwan’s democratic system and uses various means to stir up violence. We must let the world know the CCP’s true nature—only then can we address the root problem.”
Fang Zheng, chairman of the San Francisco Chinese Democratic Party
Mr. Fang Zheng, chairman of the San Francisco Chinese Democratic Party and board member of Humanitarian China, said Falun Gong has suffered the most brutal persecution by the CCP.
“Today is a very special and heavy day. I come here today because I hold deep respect for every one of you Falun Gong practitioners,” he said. “Over the past 26 years, there has been such a large group in Chinese history that has suffered the most brutal and prolonged persecution by the CCP. But you are extraordinary. You have not only persisted through 26 years of resistance, but you’ve also done many memorable and important things.”
“In 2004, when the book, Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, was published, I was deeply impressed. I believe Falun Gong has done some of the most remarkable things—publishing this book and launching the movement to withdraw from the Party,” he said.
Mr. Yu, a San Francisco resident, said, “We will one day put the CCP on trial.”
Mr. Yu, a resident of San Francisco for 52 years, said, “Falun Gong practitioners have conscience and courage—they are good people, and I respect them very much. We must disintegrate the CCP and end the persecution. This is our responsibility. Only by disintegrating the CCP can China have a future.”
“The CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong is extremely cruel. Many people died from the persecution. Today, we are here to protest the CCP’s atrocities. In the future, we will bring the CCP to justice,” he said.
Sena Hower (second from left) from Utah, helps practitioners hold a banner, “I want to help you.”
Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight vigil in front of the Chinese Consulate that night. Senaer, a woman from Utah, told Falun Gong practitioners, “If you’re tired, I can help you hold the banner.”
Ms. Hower had come to San Francisco from Utah to visit her daughter. She had already seen practitioners holding banners in Chinatown. “I saw you in Chinatown,” she said. “My daughter lives near the Chinese Consulate. I saw you here again. I told my daughter: ‘I want to go to where the Falun Gong people are and see how I can help.’”
“For peace, for humanity—I know Falun Gong practitioners are being persecuted. Twenty-six years is so long. They never should have been persecuted in the first place. I want to help you. People should live in peace. Only kindness is the true path to peace,” she said.
She said she should also practice meditation like Falun Gong practitioners. “Meditation brings peace. We must stop forced organ harvesting. No one should suffer. Forced organ harvesting is so wrong. Communism is evil,” she said.
