(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners in Argentina held activities to raise awareness and call for an end to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 26-year-long persecution in China.

Banners, signs, and posters were displayed in Argentina’s capital, Buenos Aires, on July 20, 2025. The practitioners also distributed fliers to passersby. Thousands of yellow leaflets were handed out. They also held activities in front of Chinese Embassy on July 18 and 21. Many people expressed their support for their efforts to end the persecution.

Raising Awareness in Chinatown

Chinatown, a popular tourist attraction in Buenos Aires, is crowded on weekends. This year, July 20 coincided with the start of the school winter break in many parts of Argentina. The streets of Chinatown were especially busy, and visitors from all over Argentina and Latin America were enjoying the sights and aromas from the far East.

Practitioners handed out flyers and told passersby in Chinatown about the persecution.

Every weekend for the past two decades Falun Dafa practitioners did the exercises and distributed information at the same Chinatown intersection. On July 20 this year, practitioners from other parts of Argentina joined their fellow practitioners from Buenos Aires to distribute fliers and talk with passersby.

Many people had never heard of Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, nor of the persecution faced by its practitioners in China. They were dismayed when they discovered that even today, in the 21st century, a brutal and systematic religious persecution is being carried out.

People of all ages stopped to read the display boards and listened carefully as practitioners told them about Falun Dafa and the CCP’s persecution. Thousands of flyers with detailed information and links to various resources were handed out during the activity. Visitors were especially struck by the title of a banner that read, “Killed for believing in God” (Asesinados por Creer en Dios).

Joaquín, who came to visit Chinatown with his 9-year-old daughter, was struck by the information. He explained to his daughter, “In China, the government forbids people from believing in God and kill people if they do. In Argentina, we are free to believe.”

Only two months earlier, the national government formally recognized Falun Dafa as a religion in Argentina. This was finally accomplished after a decade-long effort to overcome the CCP’s interference at all levels.

Young Argentines Learn About Falun Dafa and the Persecution In China

Joselin, 17, is in her last year of high school, and she and her friends visited Chinatown on Sunday. After listening to practitioners’ introduction, she was horrified to learn that the CCP was torturing people in China because of their faith, and that the CCP dictates what is right and wrong in China. “They do not respect human life, and everything they obtain is for money and power,” she said.

Joselyn (right) and her friends had their photo taken with a banner that informs people about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners. The banner reads, “Killed for Believing in God.”

A group of friends from Buenos Aires, aged between 17 and 20, listened carefully as Carlos told them about Falun Dafa and the persecution in China. They said they were very thankful for the information and had their photo taken with him.

Visitors From Distant Provinces and Latin America Learn About Falun Dafa

Florencia is from the province of Misiones, which is located in Argentina’s northeast, and borders the countries of Brazil and Paraguay. She came to visit family members in Buenos Aires along with her daughter and friend. Florencia asked for more information about the persecution, as it was the first time she had heard about it. She wondered how something so positive for society could be persecuted in China. Florencia was very touched after talking with the practitioners. “Thank you for letting us know what is happening in China,” she said.

A group of five young friends from the provinces of Salta and Tucuman in northwestern Argentina were visiting Buenos Aires during their winter break. One of their stops was Chinatown, where they asked a practitioner about Falun Dafa. They listened carefully as the practitioner explained about his beliefs and the CCP’s persecution.

The five young people found similarities between the practitioners and the early Christians who were thrown to the lions for persisting in their belief. They said they would pray for Falun Dafa practitioners.

Betsi and Alex from Cusco in Perú said they were appalled to hear about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China and listened attentively to a practitioner’s explanation. They said it was the first time they had heard this and were especially interested in learning more about the lawsuit against deceased leader CCP Jiang Zemin and former Security chief Luo Gan for crimes against humanity that is currently making its way through the Argentine federal court system.

The banners and yellow leaflets included different web pages, and a QR code leading to a site containing more informational materials, such as the CCP’s transnational repression of practitioners outside of China, including in Argentina.

Activities at the Chinese Embassy

Practitioners in Argentina have been hosting informational events outside the Chinese Embassy in Buenos Aires for over two decades. The compound is located on the corner of a busy intersection near the highway access in northwestern Buenos Aires. There is heavy traffic all day.

Practitioners protested the persecution outside the Chinese Embassy.

To commemorate 26 years of peaceful protest, practitioners held activities on Friday, July 18 and Monday, July 21, during the operating hours of the Chinese Embassy. On the sidewalk outside of the Embassy, practitioners hung banners that read, “Falun Dafa is good” and “Stop the CCP’s forced organ harvesting and genocide against Falun Dafa practitioners in China.” They also handed out leaflets.

Motorists expressed their support for the Falun Dafa practitioners protesting the persecution. One taxi driver said, “How unfortunate. It’s no wonder that communism persecutes people for their faith. I always see you here, but it’s time for this persecution to end.”

Nine-year-old Bautista looked at the posters while crossing the street with his mother. He wanted to know what Falun Dafa is all about. He listened very attentively as a practitioner talked to him about how traditional values help people to be better in their daily lives, and how they can distinguish right from wrong and handle conflicts with kindness.

A group of six young people read the banner and repeated “Falun Dafa is good” out loud. After a practitioner handed them leaflets, they asked to learn some words in Chinese. After a practitioner handed them leaflets. they asked how to say “Falun Dafa is good” in Chinese and began shouting the phrase near the Embassy entrance.
