(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 26 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Two officers from the Renmin Road Police Station arrested Ms. Fang Caixia at her workplace on the morning of June 23, 2025. They claimed that she was recorded by surveillance cameras while putting up Falun Gong posters. She is currently held in the Yaojia Detention Center.
Ms. Wen Jun from Lyusi Village of Daguanting Township, Cang County, was arrested at home by officers from the county police department on June 24, 2025. Her home was ransacked.
Mr. Xiao Shurong from Zhaoguanying Village of Dulin Township was arrested at home by the same officers the next evening. His home was ransacked.
The two practitioners are detained in the Cangzhou City Detention Center.
Ms. Chen Zhaoxia was arrested on June 28, 2025, while staying at her daughter’s home in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province. She was escorted back to Hanchun City the next day. Her home in Hanchuan was ransacked. She is currently detained in Wuhan City First Lockup.
Since April 2025, the Jixi City Government and Political and Legal Affairs Committee ordered a new persecution campaign against local Falun Gong practitioners in Hengshan District. They arranged officers to monitor the practitioners’ daily lives, put up propaganda posters in the residential areas, and posted rewards, instigating the locals to report on the practitioners. So far, over 10 practitioners have been harassed and their homes have been ransacked. Three of them were detained and fined. The campaign would continue at least until October 2025.
Below are the details.
Ms. Wang Guiqin and Ms. Wang Junlian were arrested when talking to people about Falun Gong at a community market on April 23, 2025. Their homes were ransacked, and Falun Gong books were confiscated.
Some officers from the Dahenshan Police Station went to Mr. Liu Changji’s home on April 29, 2025. After Mr. Liu refused to open the door, they climbed up to the second floor with a ladder and entered the room through the window. Mr. Liu was arrested and taken to a lockup. He was denied admission due to a lung disease and then released. The police arrested him again on June 4, 2025, and forced a lockup to detain him for 15 days, despite his lung disease. He was also fined 1,000 yuan.
Ms. Hao Yunzhu was arrested on June 6, 2025, and released hours later.
Ms. Sun Shuxiang was arrested by officers from the Zhongxin Police Station on June 10, 2025, after the principal of her grandson’s kindergarten reported her to the police. She was detained for 15 days and fined 1,000 yuan. The police raided her home and confiscated several Falun Gong books and other personal belongings.
Ms. Liu Yumei and Zhou Shuchun (gender unknown) were recorded by the surveillance cameras while distributing information materials about Falun Gong. They were arrested by officers from the Xiaohenshan Police Station on June 17, 2025. Their homes were ransacked, and Falun Gong books were confiscated. Zhou’s mother, over 90, went to the police station to demand Zhou’s release. Zhou was released later that day. Ms. Liu was detained for 15 days.
Other harassed practitioners included Ms. Cui Yaru, the wife of late Mr. You Zhizhong, Wang Junren, Fang Qicai, He Ying, as well as three practitioners with the last names of Xiang, Jin and Hou.
Ms. Cao Huifang, 81, from Daxing District, was arrested at home by more than ten officers on April 29, 2025, for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police ransacked her home and confiscated several Falun Gong books, computers, cell phones, a media player, and her children’s computer and tablet. She was detained for 24 hours and then released. The police later came to harass her twice and threatened her not to leave Beijing.
Mr. Xie Yujun and Ms. Liao Juannan were arrested in April 2024 and sentenced to five years on December 20, 2024. Mr. Xie was taken to the Sihui Prison in mid-May 2025, and Ms. Liao was admitted to the Guangdong Province’s Women’s Prison in late May 2025.
Ms. Zhang Yuqing, 76, and her husband, Mr. Chi Enhong, 75, were arrested in April 2025. Mr. Chi is detained at the Fangjialan Detention Center, and Ms. Zhang was released on bail due to her poor health. The police notified Ms. Zhang on June 29, 2025, that they would interrogate her the next day.
Mr. Zhu Yujun was arrested on June 5, 2024, during a police sweep. He developed a severe heart condition due to the abuse at the detention center, but was denied medical parole. He was sentenced to four years in prison in October 2024 and transferred to the Xinkang Hospital, a police hospital, around April 2025.
Mr. Lu Jianjun received a harassing call from the Huanghe Road Street Office on June 24, 2025, demanding he come to the office to sign a statement to give up Falun Gong. After he refused, director Tang Zhen and five staffers came to his shop. They took photos and pressed him to sign the statement, which he refused again. The staffers then contacted the Huanghe Road Police Station. Two police officers came to his shop to harass him.
Three practitioners, including Wang, Li and Liu, all in their 70s, were harassed by officers from the Dongchang Police Station on June 27, 2025. The police photographed the practitioners and recorded their voices while questioning them whether they were still practicing Falun Gong.
