(Minghui.org) I am a veteran Falun Dafa practitioner. In the past, I thought I was very diligent. I conducted myself well because I thought that the human body is hard to obtain, human life is not easy, and Dafa is hard to obtain. Therefore, whenever I had time, I would study the Fa, do the exercises, send forth righteous thoughts, and go out to clarify the truth. I did not leave behind any of the three things. I was very busy every day and always felt that there was not enough time. I was afraid of slacking off. I was afraid of not cultivating well and thus missing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
After Master’s new article, “Critical Times Reveal One’s Spiritual State,” was published, I repeatedly read and memorized it. I then realized the shortcomings in my cultivation. I realized that my cultivation motive was not pure, and as a result, I kept being led by the nose by the old forces and kept wandering around within the old principles and cultivating for selfish purposes.
Now I know how to properly treat the relationship between cultivators and other people. In the past, when I went out to clarify the truth, I would have a great mentality. However, when I returned home, I would become a different person with a completely different mentality. I would always feel that other people were not treating me well and would be full of discontent and resentment toward my family members. Tolerance and Compassion toward family members were out of question. I lacked kindness and care and forgot that I was a cultivator. That attachment to resentment often interfered with me and caused me to be unable to focus while studying the Fa. Then I realized that I should improve and cannot be attached to sentimentality. I decided to eliminate it and send forth righteous thoughts to clean it out. Master must have seen that my mind had improved and then helped me eliminate those corrupt substances. Now I feel that my field is more clean and bright.
Ordinary people have not read the Fa and do not know what Dafa is. However, they can learn about Dafa from our behavior and words. If we don’t watch our words and conduct in daily life, their attitude toward the Fa can really be affected. Both work and family environments are our most important cultivation environments. Sometimes when I encounter something unpleasant, I ask myself: How would the Buddhas in the new universe handle this? They govern the sentient beings in their world with compassion, wisdom, and tolerance. So we should also use kindness, tolerance, and compassion to deal with the things and people we encounter, especially the people around us. In all matters, we should look at things from other people’s perspectives. When we face unfairness, we should bury the hatchet with a smile.
I encountered something recently. My job is cooking at a dining hall. There are three of us doing the cooking. Once, when I’d just arrived at work, one of my colleagues said, “Yesterday morning I fell while riding my electric bike. I won’t be working these two days because my back is in pain. The two of you do the work.”
I said, “No problem. You rest well and we will do the work. If your back pain is serious, you can go home and rest for two days.” She said it was not needed. Less than 10 minutes after this conversation, she told me that she went hiking in the mountains at 2 o’clock in the afternoon and showed me a video of her dancing and singing.
I thought to myself: You fell in the morning then went mountain climbing in the afternoon, but you are in too much pain to work this morning. When I was about to say something, I immediately realized that it was not right. Wasn’t I unwilling to do more work and trying to avoid being taken advantage of? Wasn’t this an opportunity to improve my xinxing? As a cultivator, I should thank her.
Actually, every small thing in life, whether it’s good, bad, pleasant, or unpleasant, is an opportunity to improve as long as we make good use of it.
The time we have now was extended by Master for us to reach the standards of the new universe and save sentient beings. It is not for us to live the relaxing and leisurely life of ordinary people.
Above is my personal understanding. Thank you, Master, for your compassionate salvation. Thank you, fellow practitioners, for your help.
