Practitioners demonstrate the exercises at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul to introduce Falun Dafa on July 28, 2025.

Gwanghwamun Square is surrounded by the government complex, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, Seoul’s largest performance venue. Usually, only cultural activities are permitted in the square, and these activities are typically reserved for public institutions such as the central government and the Seoul city government, making it difficult for ordinary citizens to hold events there. This was the second time Falun Dafa practitioners have held a group practice there in eight years, the first time being in 2017.

During the three hours of the event, practitioners demonstrated Exercises 1-4, Exercise 5, and Exercises 1-4 again.

Many passersby stopped to watch, some took photos and videos, and some joined in the exercises. Many people took flyers. Because it was a weekday after work, many civil servants from the government complex and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs passed by the practice site and took the flyers.

The square is also a tourist attraction, so practitioners prepared information in both English and Chinese. A practitioner distributing the flyers said that Western tourists were happy to accept the materials. “I met tourists from the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and China,” she said.

A practitioner noticed a Chinese woman filming the exercises, so he approached her and said, “China and the Communist Party are two different things. The CCP has been persecuting Falun Dafa since July 20, 1999. Please remember that Falun Dafa is good.” The woman nodded to show that she understood. She gave him a thumbs-up and said a few words of encouragement before she left.

The exercise demonstration lasted for three hours and ended at 9 p.m.
