(Minghui.org) One day, a fellow Falun Dafa practitioner told me, “Your students shout ‘Falun Dafa is good!’ every time the school bus passes the police station. They do it every day! The driver told me.”
I couldn’t have been happier. This showed that the message of “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness–Compassion–Forbearance” had already taken root in their hearts.
When I first joined the school, things were very different. Misled by the propaganda of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), many students and parents were hostile toward me simply because I practiced Falun Dafa.
Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is an ancient Chinese spiritual practice of mind and body. It has been brutally persecuted by the CCP since 1999.
Despite the pressure I faced, I felt neither fear nor resentment. I understood that these people had been deceived. I stood firm in my belief, always remembering that I am a Falun Dafa practitioner who follows the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
With Master’s guidance and protection, I made it through that difficult time. Eventually, the school leaders and my colleagues changed their opinions about Falun Dafa and me.
Treating All Students Equally
Later, I was assigned to teach first grade. Some people were concerned because I had no prior teaching experience, but I embraced the opportunity joyfully. I never viewed caring for dozens of children as a burden.
As a new teacher, the administration and experienced staff came to observe my class. At first, I felt nervous and my heart raced. Then I remembered Master’s words,
“Whenever you encounter a problem, you should first consider whether others can put up with this matter or if it will hurt anyone. In doing so, there will not be any problems,” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun)
I calmed myself and reminded myself that this was a great opportunity to show the demeanor of a Dafa disciple. I completed the class with a peaceful mind.
Afterward, the school administration praised the lesson and arranged for me to demonstrate my teaching methods at a rural school a few weeks later. I felt that Master was encouraging me.
One day, after observing my class, a school leader remarked, “Every student had a chance to speak, even the students who are repeating the grade. That’s rare.” I responded, “It’s not easy for students in rural areas to come to school every day. I believe everyone deserves equal respect and attention. Every child is a precious life in my eyes—there’s no difference between them.”
In today’s Chinese society, influenced by the CCP culture, it’s common for parents to give gifts to teachers in the hope that their children will receive extra attention. If I weren’t a Dafa practitioner, I might have become one of those teachers. However, as a Dafa disciple, I treat all children fairly and do not accept gifts.
During exams, I assigned seats strictly according to student numbers. After a few semesters, a veteran teacher mentioned, “I’ve noticed that you never arrange for a proctor to ‘help’ weaker students.”
Initially, I didn’t understand the situation. Later, I discovered that some teachers arrange for invigilators to provide hints to struggling students to raise the overall class average, since it affects the teacher’s performance evaluation. But to me, this is just cheating for personal gain. As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I refuse to compromise my principles. I don’t focus on how my performance is evaluated—I only care about being honest and treating every student fairly.
Over time, parents began to understand me better. Some who initially wanted to transfer their children out of my class changed their minds, while others requested that their children be transferred into my class.
By following Dafa’s principles, I knew I was on the right path. I am truly fortunate to have the opportunity to practice Falun Dafa.
“Falun Dafa is Good” Takes Root in Students’ Hearts
I often used time after class to share stories from traditional culture to help students develop kindness, gratitude, and a sense of responsibility. I encouraged them to be helpful, to be considerate, and to resolve conflicts peacefully.
Here is one story I often shared.
“Two people approach a narrow single-log bridge from opposite sides. One is carrying a heavy load. If both insist on going first without considering the other, they will end up quarreling and neither will pass. But if the one without a load considers the other and yields, both will cross peacefully. How wonderful it is to think of others first—it benefits everyone.”
Two years later, I was transferred to teaching another class. One day, a girl from my previous class came up to me and said, “Teacher, I saw words written on the wall that Dafa is not good, so I erased the word ‘not’”
I smiled and said, “That’s wonderful!”
She responded, “Falun Dafa is good! I often recite the phrase: Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good. The mental illness that was inherited in my family disappeared.”
As I gained more opportunities to interact with children, I gently guided them to understand that evolution is false and that life should be cherished—including animal life—but not to the point of treating pets like one’s children, as some misguided people do. Human life is the most precious of all. Many students came to understand the truth and agreed to withdraw from the Communist Youth League and Young Pioneers.
Not just children—I took every opportunity to tell everyone I could that Falun Dafa is good.
For example, once I learned that a classroom teacher had asked students to write essays criticizing Falun Dafa. I planned to speak to the school’s Party secretary. Master arranged the opportunity. One day, the secretary came to speak with me. I spent an entire class period telling her the truth about Falun Dafa. At the same time, I informed one of her relatives—also a Dafa practitioner—so they could talk to her further. Since then, no similar incidents have occurred at the school.
By the time I left the school, most of the teachers and administrators had come to understand the truth and had withdrawn from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organizations. I’m grateful they chose a brighter future. Thank you, Master, for your compassion and salvation!
