Falun Gong practitioners’ entry in the Mukilto Parade on September 6, 2025 included a car float, Chinese waist drum performance and exercise demonstrations.
Since it began in 1966, the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival has become the most popular annual celebration in the area, as well as an important display of social cohesion and traditional culture. This year’s festival was held for 3 days, and the program included the parade, musical performances, art and food stalls, and a fireworks show. The event drew thousands of residents and tourists.
Practitioners brought a colorfully decorated float and demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises. Their entry also included a waist drum team, bringing its festive performance for the spectators. Along the parade route, practitioners distributed information about Falun Gong. Their contingent was warmly applauded by enthusiastic spectators.
As the practitioners marched past the main stage, the MC introduced them: “Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a form of cultivation practice that improves people’s body and mind. It includes standing exercises and sitting meditation and guides people to follow the principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance” in improving one’s character. The practice was first taught in China. Now, people in over 100 countries are practicing Falun Dafa. It is free to learn. Please visit https://www.falundafa.org for more information.”
The float was adorned with colorful clouds and flowers of different colors. Wearing traditional costumes, practitioners demonstrated the slow, gentle exercises. Their tranquil movements caught many people’s attention.
The waist drum team performed several songs expressing the beauty of the practice. Spectators clapped and cheered after each song, and the atmosphere was warm and jubilant.
Practitioners also handed out fliers, and some people thanked practitioners for everything they did and for participating in the festival.
One man said that he loved the group’s performance. When he learned of the Chinese Communist Party’s brutal persecution, he said he admired the efforts put in by practitioners to tell people about the atrocities.
After the parade, the practitioners were given the “Best Performance” award. Chris Thomsen from the organizing committee thanked the practitioners for their participation. He said the group’s performance promotes kindness and support for the local community.
