(Minghui.org) Six residents in Changchun City, Jilin Province were arrested a year ago for their shared faith in Falun Gong, and two of them have been sentenced to prison.

Ms. Zheng Lijie was given three years and Ms. Zhang Cuiqin one year. The two of them, along with four other Falun Gong practitioners including Ms. Han Yujie, 72, were arrested at a park on August 4, 2024, by chief Liu Mingze and his two officers of the Fenjin Police Station.

The six practitioners were taken to the Changchun Chinese Medicine University Affiliated Hospital for a physical exam that included blood, saliva, and urine tests. They were all deemed unfit for detention, but Liu still got the Weizigou Lockup to detain them for two hours. After that, Liu released them on bail and had his officers harass them over the phone frequently.

On November 6, 2024, Liu deceived five of the six practitioners into reporting to the police station and signing their case files. He then took the five practitioners to the Kuancheng District Procuratorate to have their photos taken.

Liu led his officers to arrest the six practitioners a bit past 7 a.m. on November 27, 2024. Three of the practitioners had been forced to live away from home and another was not in. The police arrested Ms. Zhang and Ms. Zheng, damaging the latter’s door when they pried it open with a metal object.

Ms. Zheng was soon released on bail after a physical exam showed that she was unfit for detention. Ms. Zhang was found to have high blood pressure, but the police still got her admitted to the Changchun City Detention Center.

Officers Chang Liang and Ma Dongsheng from the Fenjin Police Station and two people from the Kuancheng District Court deceived Ms. Zheng into reporting to the court on March 6, 2025. They promised to return the 1,000 yuan bail bond that she posted, but she had to sign a three-page document. She refused to comply, but her husband, who had accompanied her there, signed on her behalf after being deceived by the police. The bail bond, however, was not returned.

The couple’s children later read the carbon copy of the signed document and realized that it was actually a joint indictment of Ms. Zheng and Ms. Zhang, with Wang Ziyi listed as the presiding judge.

Ms. Zheng was later sentenced to three years, but allowed to postpone serving time due to poor health. Ms. Zhang was sentenced to one year.

Ms. Han, who had been forced to live away from home, was arrested again on July 10, 2025, by officers from the Fenjin Police Station. At the time of the arrest, she was working as a house aide at a home in Nongan County, which is under the administration of Changchun.
