(Minghui.org) The annual Canajoharie Street Fair was held in the historic town near the Mohawk River on September 13, 2025. The nearly 100 booths drew many people and tourists.
Established nearly 300 years ago, the town of Canajoharie is about an hour’s drive from Albany, New York’s state capital.
Practitioners demonstrated the five Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) exercises, and their graceful movements and tranquil energy drew many people to watch and learn more. People listened attentively as practitioners described Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. This was the first time for some to hear about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) 26-year long persecution of Falun Dafa. Many signed a petition urging the U.S. Senate to pass the Falun Gong Protection Act.
People were surprised to learn that the CCP’s persecution has now extended to the United States, and that the regime attempts to use Western media and lawsuits to suppress Falun Dafa and Shen Yun Performing Arts in the United States. Many were outraged, and some learned the exercises during the event.

A young woman, her mother, and her sister stopped by the booth. She told a practitioner that she suffered from anxiety, and that the peaceful exercise demonstration inspired her. After she did the exercises, she smiled.
A middle-aged man in a wheelchair approached the booth and said he had never heard of Falun Dafa. After a practitioner explained why they were there, he wished to sign the petition. Because he had difficulty writing, he asked the practitioner to fill out the form for him. However, in a touching gesture, he insisted on signing the petition.
One man paused at the booth for a long time and said he’s seen Shen Yun performances several times, most recently this last March, and was deeply impressed by the artistic beauty and spiritual essence of the performances. He was dismayed when a practitioner told him that the CCP attempts to suppress Shen Yun Performing Arts in the U.S. through the media and lawsuits. After learning about the CCP’s persecution, he signed the petition calling on the Senate to pass the Falun Gong Protection Act.
