(Minghui.org) The annual Newark Community Day was held on September 21, 2025. People came out to celebrate their community, and many who learned about Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) expressed their hope that the U.S. Senate would pass the Falun Gong Protection Act (S. 817).

According to Katie Wheatley, Newark City Event Coordinator, this year’s Community Day was one of the largest ever—over 200 exhibitors participated and thousands of visitors enjoyed the diverse activities.
The Falun Dafa practitioners’ both stood out, and many people stopped to learn about the practice and do the exercises. John, a retired social worker, remarked, “The movements are very smooth. I especially like the meditation postures; they look so peaceful.”
The booth not only showcased Falun Dafa but also raised awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) ongoing persecution in China, including the state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting. Many people signed a petition calling on the Senate to pass the Falun Gong Protection Act, and nine Chinese people withdrew from the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
Retired social worker John condemned the persecution
Public support was strong. John said he’s been aware of the persecution, “I don’t agree with this behavior [the CCP’s persecution]. It must be stopped. I think Falun Dafa practitioners raising public awareness is a very positive thing.”

Veteran and former military nurse Cathy Mosher expressed her indignation after learning about the persecution, “Communism is not a good thing. We heard about the organ harvesting, which made me very angry. The CCP does not respect life. They do not respect people.” She called for more Americans to learn about what is happening in China.
Tom, a retired psychologist, says the CCP fears the truth and people standing up for freedom.
Retired psychologist Tom said the CCP’s persecution was a kind of terror. He signed the petition and said the international community must speak out, “They should say loudly that this is wrong.” He further pointed out: “They are afraid of the truth and afraid of people’s desire for freedom.”
