(Minghui.org) I am 69 years old this year, and I started to practice Falun Dafa in 1997. Before practicing Dafa, I had sciatica and congenital heart disease, and the doctor said that I would never get better. If I was a little tired from work, my heart would beat so hard that I couldn’t stand it. I had a very bad temper, and sometimes I beat my wife for no reason, and they were not ordinary fights, they were fights as if I was going to kill her. I once slashed her with a kitchen knife, and she went back to her parents’ house. Our relationship has always been tense.
I didn’t just have a bad temper, I was also unreasonable. I didn’t pay my electricity bills, didn’t deliver my grains to the state as tax, and often got into fights. Once, a government employee from the village came to collect grain from me, and I got into a fight with him. When he realized he couldn’t win, he went to my father to argue his case, hoping my father would scold me. My father came to my home and said, “With your foul temper, no one can deal with you. The only thing for you is to learn Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance—go practice Falun Gong.” I knew that my temper was terrible, and after hearing what my father said, I was moved.
The next day, I told my family: Let’s not mention the past. In the future, I will follow Falun Gong’s Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The following day I went to learn the Falun Gong exercises. I felt that it was really good. I later joined activities to spread the Fa.
After learning Dafa, I stopped fighting with my wife at home, I didn’t fight with anyone outside the home either, and my illnesses were cured. I could always see the Chinese characters for “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” out of the corner of my eye, and they didn’t disappear until around 2007.
Through Fa study and cultivation, my worldview underwent a fundamental change, and I realized the true meaning of life. I know why people live, I no longer do things that hurt others for personal gain, and I have good thoughts for everyone.
Since the last fight with the grain tax collector, no one dared to come collect grain tax from me for a long time. Someone asked me later: will you pay grain tax? I said that I not only will pay it, but I will also to make up for what I owed before.
That year, of the tens of thousands of catties of grain from my land, I only kept 1,000 catties (110 pounds), and the rest was handed over to the state as grain tax. After the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong began, the village secretary and village chief were asked by the authorities at a meeting of the township to express their view of Falun Gong. The village secretary said, “In my opinion, Falun Gong is good. Our village’s public grain tax used to be the hardest to collect. Ever since so-and-so (referring to me) began practicing Falun Gong, he took the lead in turning in the grain tax, and even made up for what he previously owed. Everyone in the village knows about this.”
Master Protects Me
I was once working with a machine that malfunctioned, and I got a severe electric shock. My whole hand was blackened, and the people present were very nervous, but I didn’t feel much at that time. Instead I felt comfortable, and I didn’t understand at the time that Master was actually protecting me.
Another time, someone in the village demolished an old house, and I went to help. As soon as I walked under the eaves, a wall fell and buried me under the rubble. I crawled out covered in dirt, with no injury at all.
Police Station Director Gave Me a List of People Who Quit the CCP
In addition to clarifying the truth face-to-face and passing out truth-clarification materials to save people, I also installed NTDTV receivers for people for a while.
After installing a receiver for a man once, I encouraged him to continue to watch the channel and told him he would benefit from it for life. He said, “I know that it’s good, and that is why I asked you to help me install it.” He called me later and told me that the TV signal wasn’t good, and he wanted me to tune it. I went over to his house again, and told him, “You’ve been watching the TV for so long, and you’ve heard that there is a movement of people withdrawing from the CCP, the Communist Youth League, and the Young Pioneers; did you ever join the Party?” The man asked, “Do you know who I am? I am the director of a police station.” Then, he took out a piece of paper and gave me a list of names of people who wished to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. He said, “This is a list of people in my station who have quit the Party.”
Another time, I went to a village to install receivers. A person came up to me and said that the TV station is very good, and he wanted to know if I could install a receiver for him and how much it would cost. I said, “If you really want to watch it, I can do it for free, and you should watch it often and it will benefit you for life.” This person said, “Let me ask you something: what do you think of so-and-so (the captain of the Domestic Security Division who had persecuted me)?” I answered, “Our Master told us to measure a person’s character by Truthfulness-compassion-Forbearance. If he follows Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, he is a good person, and if he does not, he is not a good person.” I then asked him how he knew that person. The man replied, “He’s my cousin.” Looking back at our exchange later, I was glad that I had spoken peacefully and had not held a grudge, as otherwise it might have affected this man’s salvation.
Because fellow practitioners continuously clarify the truth in various forms, many people in our local area know the truth about Dafa, the persecution, and quitting the CCP. The director of the village procurement station was riding a bicycle once when he saw me and asked, “I heard that quitting the Party can keep you safe, right?” I said, “Yes!” As he was talking, the village secretary of the CCP rode by. The procurement station director shouted to him, “Have you quit the Party?” The secretary didn’t think much, and blurted out, “Yes, I did!”
I went to Beijing several times to validate the Fa and was illegally arrested and brutally tortured in labor camps and detention centers many times. I never compromised with the evil. After more than 20 years of persecution, I have made it this far because I know that Master is always by my side, and I am grateful to compassionate and great Master. I have no way to repay Master, so I have to continue to cultivate firmly, help Master save sentient beings in the Fa-rectification, and return to my true home with Master!
