(Minghui.org) A 67-year-old woman in Siping City, Jilin Province, was sentenced to three years and fined 10,000 yuan around early December 2025 because she practices Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.
Ms. Dou Lina was arrested on April 22, 2025, as soon as she left another Falun Gong practitioner’s home. The police took her to her home and confiscated her laptop and Falun Gong informational materials.
The police told Ms. Dou that she would be detained for 15 days. When her family went to the Siping City Lockup to pick her up on May 7, 2025, they were shocked to learn that she had been transferred to the Siping City Detention Center and that the police submitted her case to the Tiedong District Procuratorate.
It is unclear when Ms. Dou was indicted or tried. Her exact sentencing time was also unknown. She is likely still held at the detention center.
This isn’t the first time that Ms. Dou has been targeted for her faith in Falun Gong, which she took up in 1997 and credits for restoring her physical and mental health. Shortly after the onset of the persecution in 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice her faith and was given one year of forced labor.
Ms. Dou was arrested again in mid-July 2007, together with her husband Mr. Zhang Kejiang. They were sentenced to three and eight years, respectively, on May 12, 2008, by the Tiexi District Court. Ms. Dou served time at the Jilin Province Women’s Prison in the capital city of Changchun. Mr. Zhang was taken to the Jilin Prison in Jilin City.
As soon as she arrived at the prison, several inmates dragged Ms. Dou into a cell on the first floor. Wang Lixin, one of the inmates assigned to watch her, demanded to know whether she still practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Dou did not answer directly, but told Wang that Falun Gong is practiced all over the world and that people have benefited greatly from practicing it. Wang reported her response to the prison guards.
The inmates forced Ms. Dou to sit motionless on a small stool from 5 a.m. until 1 or 2 a.m. the next day. When she moved slightly at one point, Wang pushed her down so violently the stool broke. Wang then grabbed another small stool and forced Ms. Dou to sit on it.
Ms. Dou was later taken to the second floor for brainwashing. She ignored all their slanderous propaganda. The guard locked her in a cell and demanded that five inmates transform her. They pushed her onto a bed and tied her limbs to the four bedposts so tightly that her body was lifted in the air and stretched to the limit.
The pain was excruciating. To drown her screams, they turned up the television and played blaring music. Ms. Dou was not allowed to use the restroom and urinated on the bed. Wang soaked a mop with the urine and thrust it into Ms. Dou’s mouth, breaking one of her front teeth. Wang also pinched Ms. Dou’s face, causing many wounds. The scars on Ms. Dou’s wrists and ankles from the stretching torture were still visible a year later.
