(Minghui.org) A 45-year-old woman in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, was admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on December 8, 2025, to serve a four-year term for seeking justice for her husband.
Ms. Liu Cong’s husband, Mr. Luan Changhui, a senior boat engineer, was arrested on July 20, 2021, for his faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999. The arrest came 50 days after the couple’s wedding.
After Mr. Luan was sentenced to four years on November 30, 2021, Ms. Liu sought his release, only to be arrested on July 12, 2024, because she was also a Falun Gong practitioner. The Lianshan District Court sentenced her to four years and fined her 20,000 yuan in June 2025. Prosecutor Du Yang and judge Wang Yueqiu signed the verdict.
Judges Wang Heng, Zhu Dan, and Liu Xiaotang from the Huludao City Intermediate Court rejected Ms. Liu’s appeal at an unknown time. She was transferred to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on December 8 and is being held in Team Four of Division 12.
Mr. Luan, who was released in July 2025, is seeking his wife’s release. See the related reports for details of the couple’s ordeal.
