75-Year-Old Jilin Woman Has Exposed Bones on Buttocks After Long-term Forced Sitting on a Stool While Serving 4 Years for Practicing Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) A 75-year-old woman in Siping City, Jilin Province, completed a four-year prison sentence on September 11, 2026, for her faith in Falun Gong. Due to prolonged torture in prison, her buttocks have become injured and infected to the point of having the bones exposed. She has also become dazed, and her movements are stiff and awkward.

Ms. Jing Fengyun, a former nurse at the Siping First People’s Hospital, took up Falun Gong in June 1998. After the Chinese Communist Party launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong in July 1999, she held firm to her faith and was repeatedly targeted by the authorities. She served two forced labor terms totaling three years. Prior to her latest prison sentence, she was also imprisoned twice for a total of seven years.

Minghui.org previously reported on Ms. Jing’s latest prison sentence. This report presents newly available information about the abuse she suffered at the Jilin Province Women’s Prison.

Ms. Jing was last arrested on September 11, 2022, and was sentenced to four years on April 28, 2023. She was soon admitted to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison and assigned to Cell Seven in the Eighth Division, which was designated to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

Inmates Dai Yu (serving a 10-year term for fraud) and Qi Xin (serving a 17-year term for fraud) were assigned to monitor Ms. Jing. They ordered her to sit on a small stool. When she refused to comply, they conspired with guard Gao Yang (who was in charge of brainwashing Falun Gong practitioners) to impose even more cruel torture on her.

Under Gao’s directive, Dai and Qi replaced the normal stool with a shorter, blue stool with a raised, patterned surface. They then forced Ms. Jing to sit on it. Because the surface was covered in raised patterns, sitting on it for even a short time would cause intense pain in the buttocks.

Dai and Qi sat on either side of Ms. Jing to hold her tight, with a third inmate sitting behind her to keep her back straight. As soon as her posture deviated from their “requirements,” the third inmate would punch her hard in the back.

The sitting torture usually went from 4 a.m. to 9 or 10 p.m. every day.

Ms. Jing managed to sit on the cold floor one day as it was less torturous than the stool with the raised surface. Dai and Yi poured cold water on the ground and on her body, before opening the window to blow cold air on her. She shivered uncontrollably and was yanked up to continue sitting on the stool.

The prolonged sitting torture caused Ms. Jing’s buttocks to fester and become infected, exposing her bones.

In addition to the sitting torture, Ms. Jing was also subjected to other forms of abuse at various points of her imprisonment, including: 1) being forced to sit with the windows open in the winter, wearing only thin clothing; 2) being starved; 3) being compelled to eat excessive amounts of food; 4) being forced to sit leaning backward at a 45-degree angle and ordered to study materials slandering Falun Gong; 5) being denied restroom use; and 6) being barred from washing herself.

Ms. Jing was dazed and her movements were stiff when she was released on September 11, 2026.
