(Minghui.org) I began practicing Falun Dafa before 1999, when I was 13 years old. My grandmother, mother, sister and I are practitioners. We are now a happy and harmonious family, immersed in the Buddha light of Falun Dafa.

Returning to Cultivation, Conflicts Resolved

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Dafa in July 1999. My father had lived through the Cultural Revolution, so he knew how ruthless the CCP could be. He became so afraid that he stopped supporting my grandmother, mother, and me in our practice.

My mother and grandma lost the environment of group Fa study and exercises and began to study the Fa and do the exercises at home. They became very busy with farm work and gradually slacked off in their cultivation, which meant they couldn’t support me in my cultivation either. Without their supervision, I gradually drifted away from Dafa, and stopped actively cultivating.

After I grew up, I got married and had a daughter. We were a large family, but without the guidance of Dafa, the family was poisoned by Party culture and influenced by modern, distorted ideologies. We had constant conflicts—between mother and daughter, husband and wife, mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, and between sisters. The tension between my daughter and my younger sister was also awful. The various conflicts were intertwined, leading to arguments almost daily. The whole family was unhappy, and we were also under immense financial pressure.

I divorced my husband, and my once-healthy body began to suffer all kinds of illness. Life felt incredibly exhausting, and I was in the depths of despair—desperate to escape, yet powerless to do so. I just seemed to be sinking deeper.

My mother ran into one of my neighbors, Ms. Wang. When Ms. Wang realized that my mother hadn’t given up on Dafa cultivation, she persuaded my mother to come to my home to study the Fa with her every week. She brought me some Minghui Journals, which awakened my long-buried desire to cultivate. With support from Ms. Wang and my mother, I stepped back onto the path of cultivation.

I worked during the day and read one chapter of Zhuan Falun with my mother each night. Ms. Wang helped me buy a computer and taught me how to browse the Minghui website. The Fa principles and information were like sunlight shining into my long-dormant heart, dispelling the gloom within. I had once again found my direction in life, and felt happy and fulfilled every day.

After returning to Dafa cultivation, my mother and I started looking within when we had conflicts, and were considerate of others. In this way, our family conflicts were easily resolved. Our family relationships became increasingly harmonious, with more joy and laughter.

Big Improvement in My Relationship With My Mother-In-Law

I was strong-willed, just like my mother-in-law, so our relationship was never good. Things went from bad to worse—neither of us would give in, we couldn’t stand the sight of one another, and we were constantly fighting. When my father passed away, my husband and I returned to my family home to live with my mother and my younger sister.

My mother-in-law and I rarely saw each other, maybe once a year, and whenever we met, she was openly hostile. We complained about each other to our relatives, and she frequently complained to my mother about me. Her relatives had a poor impression of me, and eventually our relationship completely broke down and my mother-in-law and I had no contact for years. My husband couldn’t stand his parents’ selfishness and stinginess, and often complained that they were indifferent to our family’s affairs.

When I started cultivating again, I understood that I needed to look within during a conflict. I gradually let go of resentment toward my in-laws. My mother-in-law suffered a stroke and had limited mobility in her hands and feet, and my father-in-law developed heart problems. I put my past grievances aside, reconciled with them, and took great care of them. If I hadn’t been a Falun Dafa practitioner, I wouldn’t have cared how ill they got.

I did everything for my mother-in-law, including laundry, cooking, bathing her, and general housework. Once she soiled her pants, but I didn’t mind and simply cleaned her up and changed her clothes. She felt quite embarrassed, insisting it was too messy and asking me to just take her to the bathroom so she could wash herself. However, given her limited mobility, I insisted on doing it for her. I told her, “Children should show filial piety to their parents, so there’s no need to feel embarrassed.” I looked after her at her home for over 10 days, and she was deeply moved, saying that even a biological daughter might not have treated her as well as I did.

I tolerated her habit of gossiping, and didn’t let it bother me. She caused trouble later by criticizing me badly. My husband was furious when he found out, saying that his mother was being completely unreasonable and sowing discord. He wanted to confront her.

Through Dafa cultivation, I understood that I should treat others well and be considerate toward them, even if they treated me badly. I said to my husband, “Mom is elderly and is already ill. If you confront her, she may get so upset that she develops another illness. We should be tolerant and understanding toward her.” I was able to persuade my husband not to confront her.

My relationship with my in-laws got better and better. We frequently called to check in on each other, and they were very happy. They told everyone how well I treated them, and no longer spoke badly about me. Seeing this, my aunts and uncles have also grown increasingly fond of me.

Improving My Relationship With My Husband

I used to be influenced by Party culture and modern, distorted notions. I believed that a woman should be domineering, and that everything at home should revolve around me. I thought this was how to control my husband, earn his respect, and maintain my status in the household. Everything, large or small, required my approval. This was especially true when it came to matters involving my in-laws. If something happened without my consent, I would fly into a rage. This caused so much tension in our marriage that my husband became afraid to tell me anything in case I lost my temper.

My husband felt he had no one to confide in and received no care at home, so he was reluctant to come home. Even when he did, instead of coming inside, he would stay in his car playing online gambling games on his phone.

He constantly lost money gambling online, losing all our savings and racking up huge debts. He borrowed money everywhere, and eventually had to turn to loan sharks. He was so desperate to pay off his debts that he quit his job to start a crayfish farm on a plot of land. Despite a heavy investment, the business failed. Meanwhile, I had left my job after becoming pregnant with our second child. We had no income and relied entirely on financial support from my mother and grandmother.

We eventually managed to pay off the debts from the loan sharks, but the lack of a steady income made life incredibly hard. I felt utterly hopeless, and couldn’t see an end to our misery. We both lost faith in our life together, and decided to get divorced. I even had an abortion when I was six months pregnant. The anguish I felt after that was worse than death.

Due to stress and these awful experiences, my health began to deteriorate. I suffered from chronic insomnia, slept poorly at night, and felt lethargic and drowsy during the day. My head ached whenever the wind blew, regardless of the season. I caught a cold at every change of season. These sicknesses made my life truly miserable.

After I started cultivating again, I understood how to be a good wife. I apologized to my ex-husband for hurting him with my past aggressive and domineering attitude, depriving him of the warmth of a home and care from his wife. We reconciled and then remarried. I stopped being harsh and critical toward him. Instead, I began caring for his well-being and softening my tone of voice. I no longer made decisions about household matters on my own, and did it together with my husband. He could see I’d become a completely different person.

My body went through tremendous transformations, and my sicknesses disappeared. I felt completely revitalized, and the insomnia that plagued me for years vanished entirely. I used to struggle to fall asleep, but now I drift off as soon as I hit the pillow. Even if I have only two or three hours of sleep, I don’t feel drowsy during the day, but instead I am full of energy.

My husband now comes home on time and has given up playing games and gambling on his phone. We work together and have paid off all our debts. Our relationship is now harmonious, and we treat each other with mutual respect. When he saw how Dafa transformed me, he became very supportive of Dafa and my cultivation.

Our Daughter’s Character and Academic Performance Transformed

My daughter used to be rather disobedient, and lacked initiative in her studies. At one point, her grades were terrible. I would sit with her in the evening while she did her homework, but she was constantly distracted, and sometimes didn’t get it finished until midnight—something that caused me a great deal of frustration. Whenever I tried to correct her, she would talk back. She also got into fierce arguments with my sister, even telling her to leave.

After I returned to cultivation, I used Dafa’s principles to guide her, and read Dafa books with her. She soon became self-disciplined and well-behaved, and finished her homework without my urging her.

My daughter has read Zhuan Falun and other Dafa books many times, which has opened up her wisdom. She devised her own highly effective study method and her scores improved dramatically, taking her from consistently ranking at the bottom to firmly securing a spot in the top three of her class.

My Husband Received Blessings for Supporting Falun Dafa

I was unemployed for a while and stayed at home. A former colleague called to tell me her company was hiring. I called her boss and was asked to go there for an interview right away. I passed the interview successfully and started the job. Some time later, my husband also got rehired at his previous workplace. With both of us employed and earning a stable income, our lives improved.

After the outbreak of the COVID pandemic the CCP’s strict lockdown caused operational difficulties for many businesses. This led to widespread layoffs, including at my husband’s workplace. Layoffs typically began with employees who had the shortest tenure. Since my husband had been rehired after previously leaving, his prior years of service didn’t count, leaving him with the least seniority. This made him the most likely candidate for dismissal. He had mentally prepared himself for it.

His supervisor unexpectedly asked for his opinion about the layoffs. My husband said, “If the factory needs me, I’ll keep working. If not, I’ll leave.”

The supervisor told him, “I’ve secured your position. Just keep doing your job well.”

I knew it was Master who helped secure his job. A few months later, the factory had a second round of layoffs and it seemed almost certain that my husband would be let go this time. He became deeply distressed and anxious, and was gloomy whenever he came home from work.

Then, some long-term employees voluntarily resigned in order to get severance pay. My husband’s job was saved once again. I understood that my husband received these blessings because he supported Dafa.

Conclusion

When I think back on why our family was previously plagued with constant conflicts and bickering, I realized that a major reason was that we were all self-centered and combative. We lacked tolerance and forbearance, and failed to consider others’ perspectives or treat them with kindness. Dafa cleansed my mind of the poisons of Party culture, and taught me to be kind and put others first.

My sister has also begun practicing, and her hot temper has mellowed significantly. In the past, arguments between her and my daughter were often explosive—sometimes even escalating to threats of physical violence. She’s now completely different. My mother, sister, and I still have occasional disagreements, but we no longer get locked in endless, emotionally out-of-control arguments like we used to. We can catch ourselves after just a few words of contention, immediately realize something is amiss, and apologize to one another. The conflict then simply dissolves.

Our family has shifted from one of extreme tension to one of harmony and happiness. Without Falun Dafa, it would be hard to imagine what kind of life our family would have. Our whole family is truly grateful to Dafa.
