(Minghui.org) Greetings, Master! Greetings, fellow practitioners!
I install satellite dishes so people can receive the New Tang Dynasty (NTD) Television signal. Working on this project over the years has been a cultivation opportunity.
Eutelsat W5 was shut down in 2008. The practitioner who installed satellite dishes for NTD said, “It looks like NTD will stop being broadcast in China.” I remember feeling very sad and I didn’t say anything. I thought to myself, “Even if there was just one person who needs a satellite dish installed, I will do it.” With this one thought, I have stayed with this project for over 20 years; from Eutelsat W5 being shut down, to Apstar-5 being interrupted and shutdown, to the JCSAT-2B we use now.
Though we devoted a lot of time and effort, the ratings for NTD are not satisfactory. Besides old forces’ interference, there are also problems with our cultivation. We remain confident because we knew that we have made significant progress from zero to where we are today. The satellite dishes we installed are like shiny stars radiating the truth across China and the world. NTD is not just a media, but a platform to clarify the truth about the persecution and help Master save people. Many stopped watching Bejing’s mouthpiece, CCTV, and now watch NTD. One person told me, “NTD is the only clean television.” Another said, “NTD’s news is real news.” In this morally degenerated world, this pure land is a blessing.
I’m an engineer and I helped manage a company. I met many business owners through my job and made many of them a lot of money, some up to hundreds of millions of yuan. I was quite well known in the business. As a result, I felt embarrassed when I first started installing satellite dishes. However, I believed it was worth it because I would help Master save people. I also enjoy working with my hands.
One practitioner wrote in his sharing article, “Whatever Dafa needs me to do, I will do it.” I know that he wasn’t exaggerating—instead it reflected a solid process of eliminating attachments. Many Dafa projects need practitioners to coordinate as a group. In my line of work, I always work alone and carry large and small bags through city streets, rural areas, and even deserted fields. There is no fame and personal gain, only cultivation. After doing this for years I sometimes felt lonely. I went from not wanting to be alone to not feeling lonely—I just want to do what needs to be done. When I am on the road, I either sing or recite the Fa. Sometimes I have to be out in the hot sun, soaking rain, heavy snow, or bitter cold. I made it to this day with the thought I had at the beginning.
When I installed a satellite dish at a practitioner’s home and met her son I felt inferior. Her son made a big fortune in real estate business. I was calm, but I felt unsettled. After looking within like a practitioner should, I found my attachment to ego. I told myself that since I chose to cultivate, fame in ordinary society meant nothing and I shouldn’t feel competitive. I quickly adjusted my thinking.
My financial situation deteriorated because of the persecution. Sometimes I didn’t even have one yuan to spare. One time I traveled to a suburb to install a dish. By the time I was done, it was dark outside. I couldn’t afford the bus ticket, and I had to walk about three miles home.
After I did this for a while more people asked me to help them install satellite dishes. I once helped a practitioner who lived in a nearby county, and I occasionally had to go back to adjust the signal. As a result, I met more people in that county, and often traveled there to install dishes. At first I collected the money for what the equipment cost and my travel expenses. I later realized that many of the elderly practitioners had limited finances. When my financial situation slowly improved, I stopped collecting travel expenses. If they insisted, I refused and said, “I am taking a trip, what’s a little money?”
Besides installing dishes for NTD, every year I also make 10,000 desk calendars for Minghui. I give practitioners in nearby counties about 2,500 of them. Over the past decade, I have given them thousands of calendars but I never took money from them, even when they insisted.
One year I was coming home from my father’s house and saw a pile of cash on the ground in front of a hospital. I kept walking like I didn’t see it.
I traveled to the countryside to help a practitioner in 2008. At the time my wife was hospitalized for cancer treatment, and I had to bring our seven-year-old son with me. By the time we got there, I had less than ten yuan with me. I saved some for the returning tickets, and spent two yuan to buy my son a steamed bun for breakfast. He refused to eat it and ran away in anger. I went after him but he disappeared. I looked around for a while and remembered that I was late for the appointment. I believed that my son knew his way around, and that Master would protect him. I asked Master to help him safely return home, and I went to the practitioner’s home to install the dish.
I took a bus home and as soon as I opened the door, I saw my son, and a weight was lifted off my chest. I asked him what happened, and he told me that he ran too far and didn’t recognize the streets anymore. He cried and kept walking. When he stopped in front of a store, a woman asked if he was lost, gave him food, and offered him ten yuan to buy a bus ticket. I tried to find the store so I could thank the woman, but couldn’t find it even with the local practitioner’s help.
Another time I went to a remote mountain area to help a practitioner. It had rained on and off for days, so I decided to work in the rain. I worked two days and nights, and my clothes repeatedly went from wet to dry. It was a tough experience.
A non-practitioner asked me to help him install a dish. On the day of the appointment, the weather changed and it snowed heavily. I had second thoughts and didn’t want to go, but went eventually knowing that I should keep my word. I got on my bike with all of my tools and started riding in the heavy snow. As I rode, the snow slowed down. By the time I arrived, it stopped. When I took out my tools, the sun came out, and it was a bright sunny day. I couldn’t thank Master enough.
One day I went to a practitioner’s home. He told me that he had to go to his father’s and asked me to go ahead and get started. I installed the dish on the roof and made sure there was a signal. I came downstairs, grabbed a cord from the outside and plugged it to his television, and started to adjust the signal. It was blurry at first but I eventually got it to work. When I was done, the practitioner came back. He told me that I'd grabbed the wrong cord outside, and handed me the right one. I was in disbelief. If I had used the wrong cord, there shouldn’t be any signal in it, meaning that I got the television to work without any signal going in.
Installing dishes required me to spend a lot of time outside. I often miss buses but I’m usually able to return home the same day. Sometimes I happen to catch a taxi that’s returning to my town, or a bus that’s behind schedule, or I run into someone I know who gives me a ride. Something always happened so that I could go home. In winter, it gets dark early, and I often couldn’t catch a bus or taxi at nine or ten in the evening. Every time I ask Master for help, and every time I return home safely. A practitioner’s grandfather told her that I have supernormal abilities. In fact, I know Master is helping me.
In over two decades, NTD’s viewership still isn’t widespread. Nonetheless, with Master’s help, as long as someone requests an installation, I’d gladly go. Year after year, NTD is spreading the truth in my area, and the dishes are like shiny stars radiating the truth and waking up more people.
