(Minghui.org) [Editors’ Note: In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution, that is, being held ultimately accountable for one’s own actions, is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The universe will reward acts that are in harmony with these principles, while beating, torturing, and killing people will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds will be rewarded with good, while doing evil will meet due retribution. Articles such as this one are meant as a compassionate reminder of this principle to those who would commit wrongdoing.]

Liu Shaoping, the former director of Dingzhou City Domestic Security Office in Hebei Province, was responsible for the arrests of numerous local Falun Gong practitioners, resulting in their incarceration in labor camps or even untimely deaths as a result of the persecution. Liu died of a blood disease on December 31, 2020. He was 63.

Below are three persecution cases that Liu was involved in.

Ms. Sun Shouqi was arrested in April 2002 by Liu and other officers. She was held at the Chengbei Lockup. She started a hunger strike on June 1, 2003, and was tortured two days later. She had an inch-long cut on her finger; she was incontinent; and she was too weak to talk. She was admitted to a hospital that evening and died the next morning.

Ms. Cui Daiping, Ms. Su Junying, and Ms. Yang Huiqing were arrested on September 2, 2006, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong informational materials at a community fair. The police ransacked their homes, and gave each of them one and a half years of forced labor. They served time at the Baoding City Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Zhao Xiuying and her son, Mr. Jia Fei, who doesn’t practice Falun Gong, was arrested on December 29, 2009, by officers from the Dingzhou City Domestic Security Office and Yanjiazhuang Township Police Station. She was held at the Dingzhou City Detention Center. Liu and others also ransacked her home. She was later given 15 months of forced labor and was admitted to the Hebei Province Women’s Forced Labor Camp on January 13, 2010.
