(Minghui.org) I am a public servant, and have been a Falun Gong practitioner for the past 25 years.
When I was 12, a profound thought emerged while I was walking around my school playground, “Why am I here? There is a purpose for me to be a human here.” I began my journey looking for the answer in books, but to no avail.
I grew up, got married, and started a family. At the age of 35, I was pregnant with my youngest son. My younger sister said she had mailed me a must-read book called Zhuan Falun. As soon as I finished reading the chapter On Dafa, tears welled up in my eyes because I knew I had finally found what I had been searching for all my life.
With a full-time job and three children, I decided I would start practicing after I retired and my children were grown up, so I could better focus on cultivation. A few years later, when I was 41, an abdominal ultrasound examination revealed an egg-sized chocolate cyst, and my ovarian cancer index was 142, four times higher than the normal range. After medical treatment, the cyst grew bigger and became malignant. I suffered from agonizing pain.
Seeing my life coming to an end, I realized that cultivation could no longer wait. I believe this was Master telling me that cultivation waits for no one. My husband supported my decision. After I became a practitioner, the chocolate cyst disappeared, along with my bladder pain and the nerve pain in my lower back. I also went from having a cold almost year-round to being completely illness-free.
Three months after I took up the practice, my complexion improved so much that a janitor at work asked what I had done. I told her I simply practiced Falun Dafa. She encouraged me to keep it up. One day my husband sent an insurance salesperson to my office to get some paperwork done. Afterwards, he called my husband and said, “I haven’t seen your wife in years. She has a great complexion and looks younger. What happened?” My husband told him it was due to me practicing Falun Gong.
After seeing the positive changes in me, my daughter, husband, and oldest son also became practitioners. My youngest son asked me, “Mom, must I become a practitioner too?” I replied, “You don’t have to, but you should follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and be a good person.” He told me that he could do that. I thank Master for giving me the wisdom to help my child become a good person.
My husband’s godmother is 100 years old. She recently started to read Zhuan Falun every day. The first time I read the book with her, she said, “Don’t read so fast. You should let every word sink in, and understand what the phrase means, before you continue.” After she finished reading the first lecture, she told me she had enlightened to deeper Fa principles. I was very happy for her.
Practicing Dafa’s Principles at Work
In June 2024, I was transferred to a high school in Taoyuan to rectify its accounting, as there had been serious problems with the school’s accounting records. For example, funds raised by the principal were misused, and projects that had ended years prior still showed records of prepayments. The principal was furious with the previous head of accounting, and reported the issues to the supervising Education Bureau. Hence the director of the bureau’s accounting office sent me to help the principal correct the errors.
Besides accounting problems, I realized that the people in administration didn’t get along. The expense verification and settlements for many projects were often delayed. People who worked in accounting and other offices often tried to blame others and shirk their responsibilities. Everyone believed the delays were the other people’s fault. The previous head of accounting told me she had a special stamp made to mark the time when documents were delivered to her office. People in other offices also began stamping the time when they delivered documents to the accounting office. Everyone was trying to protect themselves, and the atmosphere was unpleasant.
It was a tough test for me. I told myself to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and to prioritize others. When I dealt with a problem and a conflict arose, I looked within to eliminate any selfish attachments. I was able to let go of personal interests and solve many problems with calmness and wisdom.
As soon as I began the assignment, I revoked the policy of time-stamping documents coming into the accounting office. After a while, other offices stopped time-stamping their documents as well. As a result, the tension between my office and others disappeared, and everyone started to get along. Falun Dafa gave me a bigger heart and made me more tolerant, so I was able to handle things smoothly.
In June the following year, out of over 200 schools, I was awarded Outstanding Accountant by the Taoyuan City Department of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics. I knew if I had not practiced Dafa, I would never have been qualified to receive such an honor.
Taking Online Sharing Seriously
A thought came to mind while I was at work one day, “Work is getting easier for me now, so I should find time to clarify the truth to people in mainland China.” Right away my cellphone rang, and a practitioner asked if I could host an experience sharing session for a project every six weeks. Practitioners on the project make online calls to China in the evenings to tell people about the brutal persecution of Falun Dafa by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). I didn’t think I had done well enough and was not qualified to host the session, so out of fear and not wanting to embarrass myself in front of practitioners around the world, I wanted to turn the offer down. The practitioner eventually persuaded me, and I agreed to host the session. Deep down I knew that Master had arranged this—the phone call came through as soon as I had the wish to help save more people.
Knowing that many practitioners had little time outside of doing their jobs and the three things, I wanted to make it worthwhile for them to join the experience sharing sessions. Before hosting a session, I wrote down what I wanted to say, especially the Fa principles I had enlightened to and through which my xinxing improved. By preparing ahead of time, I hoped to better sort out my thoughts and express them more effectively. I was still timid and felt like I was walking on thin ice when it was my turn to host.
Seeing me spending so much time preparing before sessions, my husband, who is also a practitioner, said, “Take it easy, nobody writes things down like you do. You just need to get it over with. No one is that serious about the sharing.” He complained every time I wrote my thoughts down.
One day at our local exercise site, I shared my experience of hosting the sessions. Afterwards, he said, “When you were talking, I didn’t think many were listening.” I responded, “Do you think what I said was beneficial?” He said he did. From then on, he stopped complaining when I prepared my speech for the sharing sessions.
Having to write a 15-minute sharing article every six months left me little time to make calls to China. I was worried about this and shared my thoughts with another practitioner who said, “If your sharing motivates others to do better, you would have developed great virtue.” Her words helped me realize that all practitioners are one body, and we compare with and learn from each other so as to better accomplish our mission to help save people.
Master said:
“… That is my providing you with ways to save and help one another, to rescue people together, and at the same time save yourselves; so during these latter days, beings are able to help save one another...” (“Stay Out of Danger”)
I cherished my cultivation environment. To write sharing articles, I kept looking within and examined my cultivation state. I let the Fa guide me, and focused on being a genuine cultivator. As time went by, my xinxing elevated.
Promoting Shen Yun With Firm Righteous Thoughts
Master said:
“… “Of all the projects we have for saving people, Shen Yun is the most powerful.” ...” (“2018 Fa Teaching Given in Washington, D.C.,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. XV)
Every year when Shen Yun Performing Arts came to Taiwan, I invited distinguished guests to tea parties and introduced Shen Yun to them. When I didn’t have to work or was out shopping, I took the time to promote Shen Yun to people. One man I met bought a ticket and later shared his thoughts on the performance, saying, “While watching, I felt very relaxed, like something bad was removed from my body. That night I slept well.” I was very touched and inspired by his words, which strengthened my righteous thoughts.
Some people gladly purchased tickets after I talked to them once, while others needed more time. One person kept telling me he didn’t have time, and eventually stopped talking to me. Then one day he messaged me with a photo of himself at the venue, saying, “This year’s Shen Yun is amazing!” I was quite surprised, and this made me realize that promoting Shen Yun isn’t hard—I just need to put my heart in it.
I was assigned to an elementary school last November to help with their accounting. I followed Dafa’s principles and did my best to help my coworkers. I wanted to leave a good impression, so when the time was right, I was able to effectively clarify the truth and introduce Shen Yun to them.
One day I asked Bai, one of the teachers, if he had seen Shen Yun. He said he hadn’t, but mentioned that his younger brother was a Falun Dafa practitioner, who enthusiastically promotes the practice and Shen Yun to everyone. It sounded like Bai was hinting that not even his brother could convince him to see a performance, let alone me.
On the day the school held its 70th anniversary, I ran into a practitioner at the festival. I thought his child was a student there, but he told me he was looking for his older brother, who turned out to be Bai. Nothing happens by coincidence, and I knew this was a reminder that I needed to finish what I started—to convince Bai that Shen Yun was worth watching.
I took the time to talk to Bai again before I left, and said, “I am a fan of Shen Yun. Every year when the company tours Taiwan, I make sure to see it with my family, no matter how busy I am.” I mentioned the dance that impressed me most, called Riding Alone to the Rescue. Soldier Zhao Yun was the right-hand man of the great commander Liu Bei in the Han Dynasty. During a battle, Liu’s wife and infant son were trapped in enemy territory. After defeating enemy soldiers and running his horse half to death, Zhao found Liu’s wife and son. Lady Mi, Liu’s wife, could no longer walk. So as not to slow Zhao down and ensure he could rescue her son, Lady Mi threw herself into a well. The story is a manifestation of superb morality and sentiment. I explained to Bai that Shen Yun brings to the stage stories of loyalty, filial piety, integrity, and righteousness from China’s 5,000 years of divinely-bestowed culture. The stories can bring out people’s morality, play an important role in stopping evil, and promote goodness in modern society.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I shared my thoughts, and I recalled the story vividly. Bai’s facial expression changed. I knew his understanding of Shen Yun changed as well. I later invited Bai and his younger brother to a Shen Yun tea party. Bai bought a ticket to see a performance this year.
Promoting Shen Yun is like sowing seeds. We do our best without pursuit. After the seeds are planted, when the time is right, they will bear fruit, because Master has arranged everything.
Master said:
“...Actually, when Master wants something done a certain way, it’s not simply that he thought of something and then that’s it. I have to do a tremendous amount of preparation, which you cannot see, and certain divine beings work on it too. Everything has been prepared, and all that’s missing is for you to carry it out…” (“Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa,” Collected Teachings Given Around the World, Volume XI)
Epilogue
On the path of cultivation, there are tests that I fail to pass, but each time I rectify and improve myself by studying the Fa. With Master’s protection and help from fellow practitioners, I am able to make progress. I will keep cherishing the cultivation opportunities and progress diligently so I can fulfill my mission and live up to Master’s salvation.
Please point out anything that is not in accordance with the teachings. Thank you Master, thank you practitioners.
