(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Liu Xiyue, Zhang Yiwen, Zhang Shuhui, and Gong Jinjun held a protest in front of the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo on October 28, 2026. They requested that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) immediately release their relatives who are detained in China.
Hiroaki Maruyama, president of Zushi City Council, along with Tomoyuki Ogisu, member of Yokkaichi City Council, and Kazuo Nakamura, member of Yamato City Council, also joined the event to express their support. They condemned the persecution, read an open letter demanding release of all illegally detained practitioners, and placed the letter in the embassy mailbox.

“We Must Put a Stop to This”
Hiroaki Maruyama, president of Zushi City Council (Minghui.org)
Hiroaki Maruyama, president of Zushi City Council, attended the protest and voiced strong indignation over the CCP’s depriving practitioners of sleep, torturing them, and subjecting them to state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting. He said, “People who implemented these actions have already lost their human nature. Remaining silent to these malicious acts is the same as acquiescing. We must put a stop to this.” He also pointed out that the CCP’s actions “can only be described as insane, and the CCP regime is not qualified to be a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council at all.”
Since 2014, Mr. Maruyama has participated in related events to inform and inspire the public. He praised the United States Senate’s passing of the Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act, as well as Taiwan’s related legislative progress. He said, “Japan is already very behind in this regard. The like-minded lawmakers and I will further strengthen [our] cooperation, as Japan must also effectively improve laws that directly regulate organ transplants and human rights violations.”
“This Absolutely Cannot Be Tolerated”
Tomoyuki Ogisu, member of Yokkaichi City Council (Minghui.org)
Yokkaichi City Councilor Tomoyuki Ogisu condemned the state-sanctioned live organ harvesting, “This absolutely cannot be tolerated. Organs should be given voluntarily, and absolutely not plundered.” He pointed out that behind the unnatural surges in China’s organ transplants after 2006 was the cruel atrocity of forced organ harvesting.
Mr. Ogisu successfully helped rescue an illegally detained Falun Gong practitioner before, through City Council inquiry. Based on this experience, he said, “As long as we urge loudly, they will not act rashly.”
While affirming the US Senate’s unanimous passage of the Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act, he sounded an alarm for Japan’s passive attitude. He urged, “In the current situation of economic interdependence with China, Japan is unable to adopt a tough stance. In order to protect Japan and save the people being persecuted in China, Japan must push forward an economic disengagement from China and stand united with the international community in dealing with China.” He urged the Japanese government and people not to treat the CCP’s inhumane persecution as having nothing to do with them, but to bravely step forward.
“Work Hard to Increase Public Awareness”
Kazuo Nakamura, member of Yamato City Council (Minghui.org)
Yamato City Councilor Kazuo Nakamura voiced concern over the CCP’s suppression of peaceful faiths. Regarding testimonies of illegally detained people about being forced to undergo blood tests and being treated as a “live organ supply,” he said, “Forcibly collecting extremely sensitive personal information is a serious violation of human rights. This absolutely should not happen.” He also criticized the Chinese judicial system’s procedures, including a lack of transparency and refiling lawsuits at will, and urged China to immediately correct them.
He praised the US Senate’s passage of the Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act, and said he believed this was a light of hope for the international community. He also said that currently, the acts of organ harvesting and human rights violations do not receive much attention from the Japanese political field and intellectuals. He said, “Going forward, I will continue to work hard to increase public awareness.”
Family Members Demand Immediate Release
Multiple Chinese people who are residing in Japan recounted experiences of how their family members suffered illegal arrests, heavy sentences, and torture due to their faith in Falun Gong. They strongly demanded that the CCP unconditionally release the detained.
“Give My Little Sister Back”
Liu Cong was deceived and taken away by the police in July 2024 for seeking redress for her husband’s illegal sentence and for helping other victims. She received a heavy sentence of four years of imprisonment despite insufficient evidence. Her older sister, Liu Xiyue, lives in Japan and has been threatened by the police in China. She is extremely concerned about her younger sister facing the danger of “forced organ harvesting” under the harrowing prison conditions.
Daughter Demands Her Mother Be Released
Wang Guaiyan had suffered at least ten years of persecution and brutal torture. She was arrested again in April 2024 and illegally sentenced to four years. Her family was deprived of visitation rights. The prison even threatened her with the cancellation of visitation rights to coerce her into transforming. Her daughter, Zhang Yiwen, warned that the perpetrators of human rights violations will certainly bear legal liability.
Demanding Her Aunt Be Released
Zhong Fangqiong was tortured while she was illegally detained for 11 years. She was arrested again in the summer of 2024 and sentenced to five years in prison. Zhang Shuhui, her niece, pointed out that China does not follow the rule of law. She strongly condemned the sentence as having no legal basis at all, and urged the judicial personnel to stop before it is too late.
Son Calls for Release of Mother Who Suffered Long-time Persecution
Yao Jiaxiu was deprived of freedom for over 17 years due to her faith. She was hung up in the air and beaten, and injected with substances that damaged her central nervous system. She was arrested again in September 2024 and sentenced to five years, during which time she lost contact with the outside world and became extremely weak. As the outside world continued to voice support for her, the prison recently allowed her to have contact with her family. Her son Gong Jinjun urged the international community to continue their support so she can be released.
Protest at Chinese Consulate Urges Mother Be Released
During a protest in front of Fukuoka’s Chinese Consulate Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Liling also called the release of her illegally detained mother.

Qiu Xiuping, who is over 70 years old, was illegally arrested in late July of this year. She is currently detained in the Shantou Detention Center, and her family is not allowed to visit her. Zhang Liling’s family has been repeatedly persecuted during the past 27 years. She previously protested in front of the Chinese Consulate to demand the immediate release of the detained practitioners and to urge the international community help end the human rights violations in China.
