(Minghui.org) A man in Luoyang City, Henan Province, completed an 18-month prison term on September 26, 2024, for his faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.

Mr. Jiao Zhanwei, born in 1971, was arrested on March 27, 2023. About ten plainclothes officers pried open his door at around 9 p.m. that day and raided his home. His Falun Gong books, cell phone, computer, printer, videoplayer, ID, bank cards, videotapes, audiotapes, and electric motorcycle were confiscated.

Mr. Jiao and his daughter-in-law were taken to the Yibin District Police Department at around 11 p.m. About three hours later, the police called his daughter, who was attending college out of town. The young woman had landed an internship but was unable to go to work due to the police harassment.

Mr. Jiao was put through a marathon interrogation that didn’t end until noon the next day. The police took his pictures and collected his fingerprints, palm-prints, and iris images against his will. A young officer bent his fingers backwards so hard that he was in excruciating plain. At one point the police threatened to shock him with a 20,000-voltage electric baton.

Officers Chang Xiaobing and Zhang took Mr. Jiao to the Luoyang City Lockup right after the interrogation. After his 15-day administrative detention ended on April 12, 2023, the police sent him straight to the Luoyang City Detention Center.

The Gaoxin District Court held a hearing of the case in August 2023 and sentenced Mr. Jiao to one and a half years with a 4,000-yuan fine two months later. The Luoyang City Intermediate Court heard his appeal case on November 30, 2023, and soon issued a ruling to uphold his original sentence.

Mr. Jiao was admitted to the Xinmi Prison in March 2024. He was assigned to the ninth division. Captain Lu Junyi instigated murderer Qiao Guangqing and other criminals to abuse him.

Mr. Jiao was released on September 26, 2024, only to face ongoing harassment from the police. Their whole family lives in fear.

The case status of Mr. Jiao’s daughter-in-law is unclear.
