(Minghui.org) For the past six months, I haven’t used a smartphone; instead, I’ve been using a basic senior-friendly mobile phone. I removed WeChat, Alipay, and I no longer shop online. I now have more free time and I feel tranquil.

However, yesterday, I needed to purchase some items to clarify the truth about the persecution, so I took out my smartphone and reinstalled a shopping app. I began searching for what I needed, but I couldn’t find it. As I browsed, I ended up looking at many other things. I thought, “There is such an overwhelming variety of goods online, even when you don’t intend to buy anything, it still stirs up a desire to shop.”

Afterward, I found myself opening a web browser. A news item about a celebrity popped up, and out of curiosity, I clicked on it. This triggered the system to push a whole stream of celebrity-related content, which I proceeded to scroll through one by one. As I did, I thought, “Some of these celebrities have such poor character; the entertainment industry is truly chaotic.” I also realized, “Isn’t consuming this kind of content like pouring poison into my own being? Whatever I look at enters my mind, I shouldn’t be watching this!”

I couldn’t stop myself. Hours slipped by without me noticing, and I ended up missing the time to send righteous thoughts. I felt deep regret afterward. I began to reflect on why I felt such an urge to look at these things, it stemmed from curiosity and a thirst for knowledge; I always felt a desire to learn more, even about trivial celebrity gossip.

I went to bed very early last night. I wasn’t sure why I was so sleepy, but looking back, it was likely because I had been using my smartphone. This morning, while I sent righteous thoughts, I drifted off to sleep again with my palm held upright. In my dream, I was with several practitioners. I told them I needed to go to a shoe store to buy a pair of shoes. I spent time browsing and trying on different pairs, eventually settling on a mesh-like sandal; it looked just like a large spider. However, I couldn’t pay for it because I had no money on my phone, and then I woke up.

Just as I woke up, the bell began to toll. It dawned on me, the word for “shoe” sounds the same as the word for “evil” (xie in Chinese), and a spider represents the internet. Isn’t spending time online on a smartphone equivalent to walking a deviant path? The smartphone is teeming with all sorts of malevolent entities. We really shouldn’t look up things on it!

I am quite sensitive. Whenever I use my smartphone, I can feel something scurrying around inside my body, which is extremely uncomfortable. It takes a considerable amount of time, dedicated study of the Fa, practicing the exercises, and sending righteous thoughts, to restore myself to a proper state. It is exactly as Master said, “Some people even went to other qigong masters’ classes and after going home felt very uncomfortable. That is for sure.” (Zhuan Falun)

Some practitioners constantly look at their smartphones; their bodies have become impure, yet they remain unaware of it. Karma and malevolent entities accumulate in their bodies in other dimensions. Once this manifests in the physical body in this dimension, with the karma and evil spirits bearing down, it becomes extremely difficult to overcome sickness karma. To my knowledge, quite a few practitioners have passed away as a result of their attachment to smartphones; some who were once very diligent have seen their cultivation ruined because of smartphones. This trouble is invited by an unrighteous state of mind.

I would like to remind everyone, please, do not look at your smartphones. If your work requires you to use one, you must treat this matter with great seriousness, use it strictly for work-related tasks and nothing else. There is something peculiar about smartphones; the moment one is nearby, we may have an urge to use it. Some practitioners whose celestial eyes are open observed that many malevolent beings reincarnated as smartphones, and act as demons to practitioners with the sole intent of destroying their cultivation. We must take this issue very seriously. I encourage those who have handled this well to share their own experiences.

This is my personal understanding, limited by my level of cultivation; please point out any shortcomings.
