(Minghui.org) A woman in Huichun City, Jilin Province, is serving a 3.5-year term for practicing Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.
Ms. Zhou Yanhua was arrested on August 7, 2024, while taking a high-speed train. The arresting officers from the Tumen City Domestic Security Office searched her luggage and later her residence and shop. She was then put in the Yanji City Detention Center. Yanji is the seat of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, which oversees both Huichun City and Tumen City.
Ms. Zhou was sentenced to three and a half years in the second half of 2025 and soon admitted to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison. Other details of her prosecution remain unknown.
This is not the first time that Ms. Zhou has been targeted for her faith. She was previously given one year of forced labor at the Heizuizi Women’s Labor Camp in 2001. The guards shocked her with electric batons many times because she refused to renounce Falun Gong. More than once, she lost consciousness from the electric shocks. The guards still tortured her even after she was later diagnosed with lymphoma.
Ms. Zhou was given another two years of forced labor in 2003. While held at the Huichun City Police Station, she was subjected to beatings and other forms of torture.
Ms. Zhou was arrested again in 2008 for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was detained for 15 days.
