Liaoning Woman Joins Long List of Locals Convicted for Their Faith by Same Court Between 2022 and November 2025

Feb. 1, 2026 |   By a Minghui correspondent in Liaoning Province, China

(Minghui.org) A woman in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province was admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on January 7, 2026, to serve a two-year term for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Zhao Ziqiang was arrested on December 27, 2024, after being reported for putting up self-adhesive stickers bearing messages about Falun Gong. The arresting officers from the Jintie Police Station released her on bail at an unknown time.

The Linghai City Court tried Ms. Zhao on November 7, 2025. She testified in her own defense and emphasized that no law in China criminalizes Falun Gong or labels it as a cult. She recited relevant government regulations attesting to that fact, and added that the government long-ago lifted the ban on Falun Gong publications. She thus asserted that she had broken no law in exercising her constitutional right to spread messages about Falun Gong.

The court nonetheless sentenced Ms. Zhao to two years on November 19, 2025, and she was admitted to prison on January 7, 2026.

Ms. Zhao is the 54th Falun Gong practitioner in the greater Jinzhou region who has been wrongly convicted for their faith by the same Linghai City Court between 2022 and November 2025. Jinzhou oversees Linghai. See the related reports for details of other practitioners sentenced before her.
