(Minghui.org) A woman in Puning City, Guangdong Province, is facing trial for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Wang Wenrong, in her 60s, was arrested in early October 2025, after being reported for putting up self-adhesive stickers bearing messages about Falun Gong. Chiwei Town Police Station officers initially put her in the Puning City Detention Center and later transferred her to the Jieyang City Detention Center on December 17, 2025. Jieyang oversees Puning City. The case now rests with the Jiedong District Court in Jieyang City.

According to insiders, both the Puning City Detention Center and the Jieyang City Detention Center are known to mistreat detainees. Guard Xu Chun at the former detention center forced detainees to sleep on the concrete floor during the winter months, unless their families bribed her. One practitioner did the Falun Gong exercises, and Xu instructed the head inmate to make her clean the cell as punishment. It is unclear what kind of abuse Ms. Wang went through at the two detention centers.

Ms. Wang credits Falun Gong for curing her hepatitis B, gastritis, frozen shoulder, cervical spondylosis, slipped disc, and calf muscle atrophy. Prior to her latest persecution episode, she was arrested at home on March 28, 2024, after the property manager and two women deceived her into opening the door. A group of officers from the Chiwei Town Police Station, including Zhong Zhiwen, barged in and raided her home.

Ms. Wang was later sentenced to six months in prison and released on September 28, 2024.
