(Minghui.org) When Falun Dafa practitioners persuade perpetrators to stop doing evil, it can be very powerful and can play a critical role at crucial moments. I’d like to tell you about some of my experiences.
My Hunger Strike
I was sent to a forced labor camp in 2003 for practicing Falun Dafa. From a cultivation perspective, I knew I was detained because I had too many human notions and attachments, and my behavior wasn’t always in line with the Fa.
The other practitioners and I were forced to watch videos of Master Li being slandered, which was painful to see and made me depressed. In December, I decided to start a hunger strike.
About 12 practitioners joined me. It was difficult to sustain the hunger strike, and with the guard’s persuasion, the others eventually resumed eating—I was the only one left on the hunger strike. The labor camp ignored what I was doing for the first six days.
On the seventh day of my hunger strike, I was transferred to an isolation cell. The guards found a doctor to force-feed me. They inserted a tube into my stomach through my nose, and fed me crushed instant noodles mixed with an unknown drug. I couldn’t calm down afterwards and my thoughts were chaotic. I forgot the Fa principles and I just focused on maintaining the hunger strike.
The labor camp ordered my wife to visit me and persuade me to end the hunger strike. When no one was looking, she whispered, “Your hunger strike has been reported on the Minghui website, and practitioners are taking action for you. You need to hold on.” Her words helped me a lot, and I realized I was doing something significant.
The head guard of my team often harassed me, saying, “If you leave here because of the hunger strike, it would be a victory for Falun Dafa.” I listened to his words, but I was not afraid. Instead, I became more determined to continue the hunger strike.
The labor camp staff received phone calls from practitioners around the world about every 10 minutes. Some guards, after repeatedly hearing practitioners urging them to do good, developed righteous thoughts. Although they often came over and said something to me about ending the hunger strike, they also mentioned that my wife was sending letters advising people to stop the persecution. One guard also said the related judicial branches received copies of the articles about my case that were published on the Minghui website.
Practitioners Are Powerful
When practitioners tell people to do good, it resonates in their hearts. For instance, the head deputy guard became nicer to me after receiving phone calls from overseas practitioners.
One night, he came to my bed and tucked in my blanket. He said he received a call from a practitioner outside China who asked him to treat me kindly. He did not say whether the caller was male or female, but he repeated the practitioner’s words with a smile, saying, “We practitioners are all Master’s children. If a child makes a mistake or does something wrong, he is still Master’s child. You must be a father, right? No matter what mistake your child makes, he is still your child, right?” The words moved the head guard, so he came to tell me about it.
The practitioner’s words not only awakened the deputy head’s heart and righteous thoughts, they also made him reluctant to participate in the persecution. When he repeated those words, they resonated with me. At that moment, all my negative thoughts and chaotic ideas were disintegrated, and my righteous thoughts were elevated to a new level.
I thought, “Isn’t that guard saying my success signals the success of Falun Dafa? Then I’ll let go of life and death, and act like a real Falun Dafa practitioner.”
I rectified myself based on the Fa. Amid rescue efforts from inside and outside of China, the labor camp became chaotic, and many guards refused to persecute practitioners. The head guard who persecuted practitioners had a conflict with another guard, who chased him and tried to hit him with an ashtray. He was so frightened that he hid in a room, locked the door, and did not come out.
One day, the head guard, who was usually arrogant, quietly said, “Your people stopped my child at the school entrance, and demanded that I stop persecuting you. Have I persecuted you?”
I became dazed after I had been on a hunger strike for two months. One night I saw myself carrying an iron gate and walking slowly along a mountain road. Men and women wearing blue hats and clothing stood in solemn silence on both sides of the road. When I reached the top I sat down on the iron gate and slid down the mountain.
After I woke up, the person who was watching me said, “Your family is here to take you home.”
Twenty years have passed, and the forced labor camp has been dismantled. Yet I still remember how powerful practitioners’ impact is, when they clarify the truth about Dafa. I hope practitioners continue telling people the facts about Falun Dafa, which plays an important role in saving sentient beings.
Soon after I was released from the labor camp, I read Master’s article “Stop the Evil Acts With Righteous Thoughts.” When I began the hunger strike, my mind was chaotic. Later, as practitioners talked with people about Dafa and advised the guards to be good, it not only awakened the guards persecuting us but also helped me regain clarity and strengthened my righteous thoughts, as Master described in the article.
