(Minghui.org) The Tian Guo Marching Band’s performance was well received during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ottawa on March 7, 2026. Many people applauded and said they hoped to see the band participate next year.

The Tian Guo Marching Band participated in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ottawa on March 7, 2026.

After a brief hiatus due to the COVID pandemic the St. Patrick’s Day parade was once again held in Ottawa. Nearly 600 people in various groups participated in the 1.6-kilometer long event. Starting at noon from the Supreme Court on Wellington Street, the parade wound east across Rideau Canal and continued on Sussex Drive before ending on York Street at 1:30 p.m.

Great Addition to the Celebration

The Tian Guo Marching Band consisted of about 60 practitioners from Ottawa and Montreal. They played eight songs and their performance impressed the host and parade attendees.

Event organizer Thomas O’Neill

Thomas O’Neill, President of the Irish Society of the National Capital Region, which hosted the parade, said he was happy to see the Tian Guo Marching Band. He said the band participated the celebration numerous times before COVID and he liked them very much.

O’Neill thanked practitioners for, “Making the whole event even bigger” and said he plans to invite the band again next year.

Tom Flood

Tom Flood is of Irish descent, and he and his family moved to Ottawa in 1965. He praised the Tian Guo Marching Band and said it was great to see it in the parade. “The band is wonderful. They are very festive. This is a remarkable parade, and its nice to see all cultures here.”

John Walmsley

Originally from central Ireland, John Walmsley said several generations of his family live in Ontario, Canada. He said the tradition of the St. Patrick’s parade is great and the Tian Guo Marching Band’s performance was fantastic. He believes Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are good for society.

Paul O’Lachtnain from Ireland moved to Ottawa in 2017 and said he was glad to see the parade return. As an Irishman who loves peace and happiness, he was delighted to see the Tian Guo Marching Band, and he praised the color and their music.

He noticed a banner with the words, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” and he said he believes these values are universal and they can bring people from different backgrounds together. “This parade belongs to everyone, regardless of where you came from,” he explained.

Denis-Paul Cloutier

Denis-Paul Cloutier works in a government agency and said the Tian Guo Marching Band was outstanding. He agreed with the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and said, “We need these values at this time.”

This was the first time Amye Poirier heard the Tian Guo Marching Band. “I love it and it is great to see this band here,” she said. She believes traditional values are important and that society needs them.

Band Members: A Precious Opportunity

Yang Yang from Montreal joined the Tian Guo Marching Band 12 years ago and said, “As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I cherish the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Our music carries energy and it brings people blessings.”

Zhou Yuanyuan, a drummer from Montreal, said she joined a band performance in Ottawa before the pandemic. “This year is warmer than normal and I had a special feeling when we played ‘Triumphant Return’,” she explained. “People listened attentively—it was as if their minds are being purified by our music, so they can enjoy a better future.”
