Don’t Give Up Too Easily

March 14, 2026 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner from Heilongjiang Province

(Minghui.org) During summer vacation of 2025, when I returned to my hometown, I witnessed several fellow practitioners experiencing health issues and heard that others had passed away for various reasons. Amidst my sorrow, I was suddenly jolted awake. This prompted me to reflect on my cultivation journey over the years. Initially, I intended to write an article titled: Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late.

Most practitioners I know are veteran Dafa disciples who obtained the Fa before 1999. During that period of intense persecution, they were all highly diligent and excelled in the three things that Dafa practitioners are required to do.

Some traveled by car to distant locations, always under the evil’s watchful eye, to distribute truth-clarification materials. Others studied the Fa well and excelled in truth-clarification. Some coordinated material distribution centers in rural counties, while others were always at the forefront of installing New Tang Dynasty satellite dishes. These admirable and precious practitioners remained steadfast in all matters of great principle.

Yet, as the rectification of the Fa draws to a close, they began to fall behind. Various health issues arose, leaving many family members and other practitioners feeling helpless. Reflecting carefully, have we perhaps relaxed our cultivation in minor matters, neglected self-cultivation, and allowed our diligence to be gradually eroded away, like a frog in slowly heating water?

I will briefly share my observations and insights as I understand them. This may be an incomplete picture. Should any points deviate from the Fa, I humbly request fellow practitioners to kindly offer corrections.

Many veteran practitioners actively study the Fa every day, yet they often fail to reflect on the teachings or measure their actions against the Fa. Instead, they merely go through the motions as if just finishing another task. Some begin chatting as soon as they finish Fa study, while some even doze off while reading the Fa. Their mouths recite the words, but their hearts remain unchanged.

Master told us,

“Study Fa, obtain Fa,Compare in studying, compare in cultivating,Examine each and every deed,Accomplishing is cultivating.” (“Solid Cultivation,” Hong Yin)

After years of persecution, most practitioners have been exercising at home. Many movements have become inaccurate or distorted, and some practitioners are doing them incorrectly without realizing it. This is especially evident in meditation, where many practitioners remain in a drowsy state.

The requirement for meditation is “The body is kept upright and relaxed,” “The head should remain upright.” (The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection) Yet many naturally relax and slump over. Not only does the primary consciousness fail to cultivate properly, but it may even be the secondary consciousness practicing instead.

When it is time to send forth righteous thoughts, many people become drowsy, cannot keep their palm erect, and fail to meet the requirements.

Some in their 60s and 70s still rush to help their children raise their grandchildren or take on extra jobs to support their families, leaving them overwhelmed with responsibilities.

Others have let loneliness erode their dedication, failing to realize they must endure this solitude as a necessary hardship. Some keep cats or dogs to soothe their fear of solitude.

This prevents them from achieving an optimal state in cultivation, hinders the manifestation of supernatural abilities, impedes the evolution of their true self, and ultimately weakens their ability to eliminate evil. It diminishes the effectiveness of righteous thoughts, further affecting their Fa study and their ability to enlighten to the Fa principles.

This vicious cycle eventually leads to physical ailments. By then, it’s too late to resume diligent practice. The old forces seize upon practitioners’ vulnerabilities and weaknesses. They become deaf to fellow practitioners’ well intentioned reminders, and blind to the profound principles of Dafa, leaving those around them helpless.

Every time I see them rising early morning day after day to practice the exercises, year after year going out to clarify the truth, coordinate efforts, and produce materials—every time I see their devotion—I am moved to tears.

My respected and beloved fellow practitioners, how I wish they could be more aware, pay attention to these small details, and not leave any loopholes for the old forces to exploit.

Every year, when I attend the Dafa disciples‘ conference in mainland China, I try to dress in my finest attire. Even if I don’t write a sharing, I’m still filled with joy at witnessing the achievements of my fellow practitioners. This last time, however, my heart feels somewhat heavy. Observing the various challenges practitioners are facing, I also recognize my own lack of diligence over the past three years.

The issues mentioned above exist to varying degrees within me. Initially I considered titling the article “Don’t Wait Until It’s Too Late.” However, after returning home and continuing Fa study, I realized that these negative thoughts align precisely with the old forces’ principle of destruction, which is not in alignment with Master.

Therefore, I changed the original title to: Don’t Give Up Too Easily. Regardless of how many fellow practitioners remain, or how they perform, we must encourage each other, offer support, coordinate and improve together. We should do what is always right—and never give up easily!
