The weather was sunny on Saturday and the town was filled with laughter and excitement as crowds gathered for the parade. The practitioners brought an Asian touch to the Irish festivities. Their procession featured waist drums, fairy dances, and a Falun Dafa exercise demonstration. Many people cheered for the practitioners, especially the spirited dragon dance that wove through the streets and interacted with delighted spectators.
Audience Welcome the Practitioners’ Team
Ben Mahalo thoroughly enjoyed the practitioners parade entry.
Ben Mahalo, a local software engineer, and his daughter applauded the practitioners. “This is the best procession,” he said. “I like their music and costumes, as well as the dragon dance.”
Graig Cilluffo said he admired the practitioners’ courage in upholding their belief.
Graig Cilluffo, a local engineer, said he admired practitioners. “They have the courage to stand by their convictions, showing everyone that we, too, should possess such courage.” He said that only when people possess this kind of courage can they unite, be honest with one another, and understand one another. He said he would pray for the persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners in China.
Derek, a professor at a New Jersey University, watched the parade with his wife. He said he learned about Falun Dafa during the Mid-Autumn Festival event in Port Jervis last year. He has also read newspaper reports about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China, so he was happy to see their procession in the parade. He said practitioners’ participation brought a positive impact to the community and helped people learn about Falun Dafa.
Ann Bolton, a teacher from Iowa, was visiting relatives in Pennsylvania. She and her family watched the parade together. When she saw the practitioners, she exclaimed, “Beautiful! Nice music, vibrant colors—the overall presentation is superb.”
Practitioners Hope People Learn About Dafa
Julia Baniasadi, an accountant from Germany, moved to New York a few years ago. She participated in last year’s parade and joined the parade this year with her son.
She said she suffered frequent back pain when she was in her 20s. “After practicing Falun Dafa, the ailment disappeared.” She said that her practicing also helped her family, “Our family used to be broken and fragmented, but cultivation brought us back together.”
Julia said she took part in the parade because she wanted more people to learn about Falun Dafa. “I want to support the local community. So I participate and introduce [Dafa’s] principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance to the community.”
