(Minghui.org) Ms. Yao Yufen, 66, in Baishan City, Jilin Province, is serving a four-year prison term because she practices Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.

Ms. Yao was sentenced around late 2024, and there are more than two years left on her term. Details of her arrest, indictment, trial, and sentencing are unknown.

According to an insider, Ms. Yao is currently held in Cell Seven of the Eighth Division in the Jilin Province Women’s Prison. Head inmate Dai Yu, who was convicted of fraud and is serving a 12-year term, was instructed by the guards to monitor and torture her.

Dai forced Ms. Yao to sit still on a small stool which had a bumpy surface all day, with her hands in her lap. During the hot summer Dai made her wear thick clothes and did not give her any water to drink.

She tortured Ms. Yao this way from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. When Ms. Yao was finally allowed to go to bed, she was ordered to do night duty from 11 p.m. to midnight. After one hour of sleep, she had to get up again at 1 a.m. to cover someone else’s night duty for almost two hours. She finally lay down at 3 a.m. but had to wake up at 4 a.m. to begin the sitting torture again.

Ms. Yao was not allowed to sleep if Dai saw her dozing off during night duty. The long-term sleep deprivation wrecked havoc on her mental health, and she became dazed.

Dai also did not give Ms. Yao enough food to eat or allow her to use a comforter during when it was cold. She had to ask permission before she used the restroom. Whether she was given toilet paper depended on Dai’s mood. Dai even poured cold water on her bed.

An inmate saw Dai suddenly kick Ms. Yao from behind while she was made to sit on the small stool. She was knocked over and could not get up for a long time because her hands and feet were swollen after sitting for hours and she was weak. Dai and another inmate swore at her while they pulled her up.

Dai’s verbal abuse of Ms. Yao irritated the other inmates, and they requested to be switched to a different cell.

Falun Gong Restored Her Health

Ms. Dai spent the first few decades of her life dealing with various diseases. She had a lung disease when she was a child. She recovered but was left with calcified lungs. At 16, she contracted scarlet fever and suffered a perforated eardrum as a result. She became deaf and could only communicate with others by reading their lips. No treatments helped. She was diagnosed with intrahepatic bile duct stones at the age of 26. The medications she took caused severe allergic reactions, and her doctors warned her the side effects could be life-threatening if she continued using them.

In the spring of 1996, Ms. Yao’s right breast tumor mutated, causing fever and pain. The condition worsened in the winter of 1997. Her breast became red, swollen, and suppurated. She couldn’t lift her arm; and she experienced fever, nausea, weakness, and even fainting.

Two elderly people came to her vendor counter in a shopping mall and suggested that she try Falun Gong. She heeded their advice and all her illnesses disappeared in seven days.

Arrested in 2001

After the communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Yao was put on around-the-clock surveillance, with people monitoring her outside her home and at her vendor counter, even during holidays.

She was arrested at home on May 8, 2001, after being reported for telling someone “Falun Dafa is good.” After she was detained for more than 40 days, she was given two years of forced labor and driven to the Heizuizi Labor Camp. The camp refused to admit her because of her poor health.

The police then took her to a prison hospital. Several doctors decided to cut open her breast to examine it. She objected to the operation as she was allergic to anesthesia. They ignored her. As soon as the cut was made, blood gushed out. The head nurse drew a small amount of her blood and hurriedly stitched her up.

Ms. Yao was then taken to the labor camp, which admitted her despite her condition. The guards forced her to sit on a small stool from 5 a.m. to midnight. Despite her allergy to medications, they instructed the inmates to press her down to give her injections. She was not told what the injections were, but her teeth became loose on the first day. An incisor fell out on the second day, and she lost another tooth on the third day.

Ms. Yao also became confused after the injections. The labor camp guards ordered her to sign their pre-prepared statements to renounce Falun Gong. She refused to comply, and they shocked the incisions on her breast with an electric baton. Her wound bled, and the her right side turned black. Her throat was injured and she could not drink water.

The labor camp sent her back to the local police department in Baishan City over 30 days later. The police feared that she might die in their custody, and released her but placed her under residential surveillance. She read the Falun Gong teachings and did the exercises. Three days later she walked into the police department to attest to the miraculous power of Falun Gong. The police couldn’t believe that she recovered in just three days.

Arrested in 2012

On May 3, 2012, a woman in her 60s came to Ms. Yao’s vendor counter and said she had no money to treat her illnesses. Ms. Yao suggested she try practicing Falun Gong.

The woman returned a few days later and complained about the same thing. She came a third time, and this time a group of police officers accompanied her.

The police handcuffed Ms. Yao and searched her vendor counter. They also broke into her home and confiscated all her appliances and flashlights.

The local detention refused to admit Ms. Yao due to her poor health, and she was released that night.

Arrested in 2014

The police arrested Ms. Yao again at her vendor counter in November 2014 and dragged her from the third floor to the first floor. She became incontinent and her heart stopped momentarily. The police nonetheless took her to the police department and cuffed her hands. Her heart stopped once again.

Ms. Yao had allergic reactions to the drugs they used when her blood was drawn. Her arm immediately swelled, her heart constricted, and her limbs convulsed. She lost consciousness. After she was resuscitated, the police called her family to take her home.

Ms. Yao recovered through practicing Falun Gong. She was beyond grateful that Falun Gong saved her life once again.
