(Minghui.org) The annual Hyde Park Festival was held in Perth, Australia, on March 1 and 2, 2026. Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) practitioners were invited to participate. They introduced the universal values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and raised awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. They also demonstrated the exercises and performed a dragon dance, waist drums, and danced on stage.
The event which was hosted by the Rotary Club of North Perth and supported by the City of Vincent, featured over 50 food stalls, 200 market stalls, rides suitable for all ages, a variety of family-friendly activities, and live music, dance groups, and cultural performances.

Many people visited the Falun Dafa booth, listened to practitioners’ introduction of the practice and how the CCP persecutes it. They signed the petition calling for an end to the human rights abuses.

Jan Brown and her daughter Peata learned about the CCP’s persecution. “Be strong, never give up,” Jan said. “The world needs freedom. People need to be able to speak out when faced with injustice or persecution. We need more patience, tolerance, and understanding of each other’s differences. We all live on the same planet and are all human beings. People have the right to be dissatisfied with something and to express it appropriately, and they deserve to be heard. Sadly, the voice of the Chinese people has not yet been truly heard. I want to say, stay strong. In our Maori culture, it’s called ‘Kia Kaha,’ which means to be strong.”

“People are now drawn to wealth and power,” said Jan. “Wealth gives people power, or at least that’s what they think. But in reality, true wealth lies in caring for our world, caring for the people in this world, and giving back to society—that’s the core of power. But now everything is upside down. We are experiencing war. Why? It’s all because of money, money, money.”
Encouraging Practitioners

Rhonda Watts signed the petition calling for an end to the CCP’s persecution and shared her view of communism. She said, “The CCP is good at spreading false information and controlling dissidents strictly. I’ve spoken with people who have fled the country, and a Chinese friend of mine has also told me some information. Other Chinese friends have also shared information with me. I also know that they track people down, attempting to kidnap them and take them back to China, and these people often disappear without a trace.”
Rhonda said she knew a little about the persecution, but not in detail. She said that the whole world should know about this as many people are unaware of it or think it’s a baseless accusation. After all, who would believe a government would treat its people like this? It’s hard to believe these things when you’re in Australia; there’s no such [CCP control] here, so if you don’t pay attention to other countries, you won’t realize that laws differ and many people don’t have human rights. This is completely different from Australia.
Mike said that practicing Falun Gong is honorable and important and that we should remember Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. After learning about the persecution, he said, “Don’t give up, continue practicing the exercises that are beneficial to you and to all of us.” He hoped the persecution would end. He added, “The truth should be transparent, the facts should be made public, and this [persecution] should be condemned.”

Lesley Coleman of Ocean Reef said she visited the Falun Gong booth last year and listened to a practitioner’s introduction. She was impressed. She stopped at the Falun Gong booth this year and said, “This booth is special. I’m going through some things in my life, and I want to try something new and make some changes. Maybe I should try practicing Falun Gong.” She said that people who practice Falun Gong are kind, and she believes that the values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are lacking in this world. She added, “What this world needs is kindness, not cruel killing.”
