Mayors of Four Cities in South Florida Recognize Shen Yun Performing Arts

(Minghui.org) The mayors of four cities in South Florida presented proclamations to Shen Yun Performing Arts on behalf of their city councils after the mayor of Wilton Manors issued a proclamation declaring February 2026 as “Shen Yun Performing Arts Month.” They congratulated Shen Yun Performing Arts on the company’s 20th anniversary and welcomed its return to South Florida. The four cities honoring Shen Yun are Hallandale Beach, Pembroke Pines, Oakland Park, and Hillsboro Beach.  

Proclamation From Mayor of Hallandale Beach

Mayor Joy F. Cooper of Hallandale Beach presented a proclamation to Shen Yun Performing Arts at city hall on the evening of March 4, 2026, proclaiming the day: “Shen Yun Performing Arts.”

The proclamation reads, “Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company whose mission is to revive China’s rich 5,000-year-old culture. The ancient Chinese believed their culture was divinely inspired. Thus, their performances bring to life the glory of China’s ancient myths and legends that not only entertains but educates, enriches, and inspires, offering audiences of all ages a powerful and rare experience; and

“Shen Yun performances combine the precision of classical Chinese dance set to original music fusing Eastern and Western instruments, wrapped in colors that are visually stunning with its unique digitized backdrops and period costumes working all together seamlessly and harmoniously; and

“Ancient Chinese artists believed that to create true art, there must be beauty and purity. Today, the artists of Shen Yun follow this noble tradition by immersing themselves in meditation, studying the classics and adopting the virtues of the ancients into their daily lives. Such virtues like honesty, loyalty and kindness are conveyed so expressively through the unique style of classical Chinese dance. The result is a spectacle that is beautiful, elegant, and graceful that moves audiences in profound ways; and

“Shen Yun continues to delight the hearts of Florida communities since 2007 and contributes to cultural diversity as it provides an unforgettable experience. Shen Yun Performing Arts will return to The Broward Center for the Performing Arts with an all-new performance on February 17 and 18, 2026.”

Proclamation From Pembroke Pines

Mayor Angelo Castillo of Pembroke Pines issued a proclamation to Shen Yun Performing Arts in city hall on the afternoon of February 18, 2026.

The proclamation reads, “Shen Yun Performing Arts, the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company, was founded in New York in 2006 with the mission of preserving and reviving the rich traditions of ancient Chinese culture; and

“Shen Yun draws inspiration from 5,000 years of Chinese civilization, presenting artistic works rooted in virtue, faith, and moral values through classical Chinese dance, live orchestral music, and storytelling that reflect Buddhist and Taoist philosophies; and

“Shen Yun Performing Arts has become an international cultural phenomenon, touring approximately 180 cities worldwide each year and captivating more than one million audience members annually with performances that celebrate history, legends, and universal human values.”

Letter From Mayor of Oakland Park

Mayor Steven R. Arnst of Oakland Park sent a letter to the South Florida hosting organization of Shen Yun Performing Arts on January 29, 2029.

The letter reads, “On behalf of the city and its residents, I am pleased to extend my warmest congratulations to the Shen Yun Performing Arts on your return to South Florida. Your continued presence in our region has greatly enriched our artistic landscape through your preservation of ancient Chinese culture.

“As a premier classical Chinese dance and music company, your performances offer audiences a rare opportunity to experience the richness of traditional Chinese heritage. South Florida’s performing arts community is strengthened by organizations such as yours, which elevate the performing arts through dance, music, and storytelling, while inspiring an appreciation for timeless values that transcend cultures and generations.”

Mayor Dawn Miller of Hillsboro Beach issued a proclamation to mark the 20th anniversary of Shen Yun Performing Arts.

The proclamation reads, “Shen Yun Performing Arts has become an internationally acclaimed cultural institution, touring approximately 180 cities worldwide each year and reaching audiences of more than one million people annually; and

“Whereas, each live performance consists of original works that transport audiences through different dynasties, regions, and eras, featuring vibrant costumes, innovative digital backdrops, and a live orchestra blending Eastern and Western musical traditions; and

“Whereas, Shen Yun Performing Arts will present a series of performances in South Florida during February and March 2026, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to experience world class classical Chinese dance and music; and

“Whereas, the Town of Hillsboro Beach recognizes the importance of cultural enrichment and artistic expression in fostering understanding, respect, and appreciation among diverse communities.
