(Minghui.org) A 58-year-old man in Changle County, Shandong Province has been jailed to serve time for his faith in Falun Gong.
Mr. Meng Xianqiang was arrested on July 29, 2025. He was later sentenced to a four-year prison term, and admitted to the Shandong Province Prison in the capital of Jinan on February 6, 2026. Details about his indictment, trial, and sentencing aren’t available.
Mr. Meng has been repeatedly targeted since the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, for upholding his faith. He has been subjected to relentless torture while serving an unknown labor camp term and a prior four-year prison term.
Mr. Meng was arrested on September 28, 2010, by agents from the 610 Office in Changle County and Honghe Township. His home was ransacked, and officers from the Honghe Police Station took him to the Changle County Detention Center the next day.
Mr. Meng was transferred to the Shandong Province Second Labor Camp months later to serve an unknown term. Guards instigated the inmates to torture him and other detained Falun Gong practitioners, in attempts to force them to renounce their faith.
Inmate Liu Jun once kicked Mr. Meng on his calves, until they bled. Another time, when Mr. Meng was very weak due to torture, guard Wang Baohua dragged him to the workshop to do forced labor. When Mr. Meng was too weak to continue working, Wang took him to his office, poured water over him, and then shocked him with electric batons, along with three other guards, Luo Guangrong, Wang Xinjiang, and Shen Xijun. Wang Baohua also whipped Mr. Meng’s face and head with his shoe, and threatened to harvest his organs if he didn’t work hard enough.
Mr. Meng had trouble breathing and coughed up blood in September 2011. The labor camp released him when he was on the verge of death.
Mr. Meng was arrested again on May 9, 2018, by officers from the Changle County Domestic Security Office and the Honghe Police Station. While held at the Changle County Detention Center, he talked to the inmates about Falun Gong, and subsequently beaten by guard Guo Mingliang. He sustained injuries to his head and arms, and was held in solitary confinement for over two months.
Mr. Meng appeared in the Qingzhou City Court on January 8, 2019. Prosecution evidence presented by the Changle County Procuratorate included a dozen Falun Gong books, two cell phones, one TV, and two antennas. Mr. Meng testified in his own defense and argued that he didn’t violate any law by practicing Falun Gong. The judge nonetheless sentenced him to four years in prison.
Mr. Meng was transferred to the Shandong Province Prison in February 2019, where he was brutally tortured again for not renouncing his faith.
