(Minghui.org) The support of human rights and justice has always been a stabilizing factor in societies and international order. Currently over 100 million Falun Gong practitioners in China have suffered persecution for over a quarter of a century because they refused to renounce their faith. “China will be a better place after redressing Falun Gong, and the United States will be a better place for supporting Falun Gong” isn’t a political slogan. It’s a natural consequence of supporting human rights and justice in modern civilization.
In China, ending the persecution and redressing Falun Gong isn’t as simple as solving the decades-long injustice of a large social group. It is repairing the country’s justice system and reshaping its morality. If a large group of people who believe in the universal values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance can be easily labeled as a cult and deprived of basic rights with no justice in sight, the precedent is bound to hurt every citizen sooner or later.
As for the United States and other countries, ending the persecution is a matter of global moral consensus. Supporting human rights is not just a political gesture, but safeguarding universal values. When international society turned a blind eye to such large-scale persecution, the regression of values will slowly erode the foundation of the free world.
The history of how the Chinese regime framed Falun Gong practitioners, executed the persecution, sealed the documents that ordered the arrests and suppression of the law-abiding citizens is buried. When people are willing to dig deeper and find out what really happened in the persecution, societal reflection can begin. Such reflection prevents society from repeating its mistakes, and wins it divine protection. More importantly, it serves as a key auto-correct mechanism that ensures the continuity of traditions and civilization.
The violation of rights is not just a problem of certain groups. The collapse of values will backfire on all countries. If international society no longer has concerns about human rights, the core values of the free world will start to wobble. In fact, paying attention to human rights is more than invoking justice, it’s an effective way to stabilize a country.
