(Minghui.org) Every year since 1999, in more than 100 countries around the world—including Romania—people commemorate the April 25 appeal by Falun Gong practitioners in China.
This year, practitioners in Romania gathered from April 24–26 in Bucharest. They held a candlelight vigil while holding portraits of victims of persecution, and a peaceful protest at the Chinese Embassy. Additionally, over the three days, they performed the exercises together in King Michael Park.
In honor of the April 25 appeal, practitioners set up an information booth and petition drive for the G7+7 petition in the old town center of the mountain city of Brașov on May 2, 2026.

Falun Gong practitioners organized a commemorative event on Friday, April 24, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., along the Calea Victoriei—a major thoroughfare in Bucharest. There, surrounding the statue of King Carol I, they drew attention to the genocide being carried out by the Chinese regime against their fellow practitioners in China.
They set up an information booth with posters and banners about Falun Dafa. They handed out materials to passersby, demonstrated the exercises, and collected signatures for the petition launched by the NGO Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH) and the International Coalition to End Transplant Abuse (ETAC) to the G7+7 nations to stop the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners.

A Passerby Condemns the Persecution
George Nica, a Romanian naval engineer working in South Korea, speaks in support of Falun Dafa practitioners. (Credit: A Minghui reporter)
George Nica, a naval engineer in South Korea, learned about Falun Dafa at the event in Brașov on May 2. He said that, by virtue of the principles that guide practitioners, a way of life based on the teachings of Falun Dafa benefits both individuals and society alike.
“The values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are extraordinary. In daily life, they would add value to every person, and naturally, society would transform as well. At the same time, the more each person possesses truthfulness, compassion, empathy, and forbearance, the more everyone stands to gain,” he said.
Nica lived through the communist regime in Romania and said he is fully aware of the injustices and terror it sowed throughout the world. It did this to secure its dominance and eliminate any voice that did not support the communist ideology of class struggle.
“The persecution [of practitioners] is an unjust and dishonest practice, just as it was under communism here in Romania,” he said. “It is very clear that during Ceaușescu’s time, things were the same as they are now in China. So even people in positions of authority were persecuted and thrown in jail—if you were a bit more ‘enlightened,’ so to speak, you were thrown in jail. If you were a priest and didn’t agree with something, you were thrown in jail.”
He suggested that the petition practitioners were asking people to sign could be much more direct, by for instance by promoting it on television. “People are dying right now as we speak, and we don’t realize that if we did things more correctly and more quickly, we could save them,” he said. “It’s important for the media to be as direct as possible—that is, to call things by their proper names. Let’s tell the truth—because it’s more important—so that these things don’t happen anymore.”
Pointing to a banner displaying a symbolic image of a police officer torturing a young man locked in a cage, one of the hundreds of methods used by the regime to break the practitioners’ will, he said, “We must never again have to see such images of a man who lacks any sense of humanity torturing a boy. He has no morals; there is nothing human in him.”
Nica said he believes in the power of competence when people work for the common good.
“Contact our competent authorities directly—those who can actually get things done, that is, who can bring about change. Even though we are a small country compared to China, great things can be achieved through the competent people in the relevant ministries. First and foremost, speak very clearly with the foreign minister—look at what’s happening in China—can you take a stand?” he said.
To practitioners who are in detention, Nica urges them never to consider themselves prisoners and to believe that one day they may be released.
