(Minghui.org) Mayor Carol K. McCutcheon of the City of Sugar Land issued a proclamation proclaiming May 13, 2026 “World Falun Dafa Day” in the city. Sugar Land is renowned for its high-tech industries, diverse cultural communities, and high standard of living.

The proclamation reads, “Whereas, Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is a peaceful spiritual practice rooted in traditional Chinese self-cultivation, consisting of gentle meditative exercises and teachings centered on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance; and
“Whereas, Falun Dafa has been practiced in the Greater Houston area for 30 years, and many practitioners who are residents of Sugar Land have developed strong ties within the community by hosting celebration events, participating in local festivals, and offering free workshops in libraries, parks, and other community spaces; and
“Whereas, these free workshops and outreach efforts have provided Sugar Land residents with accessible opportunities to learn meditation, reduce stress, and enhance their overall quality of life, while also promoting cultural enrichment and shared values; and
“Whereas, through their service and engagement, Falun Dafa practitioners contribute to a sense of connection, harmony, and well-being within the Sugar Land community; and
“Whereas, recognizing World Falun Dafa Day reflects the City of Sugar Land's ongoing commitment to supporting a diverse community where individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs are respected and where initiatives that promote health, unity, and understanding are encouraged.”
