(Minghui.org) In honor of World Falun Dafa Day, May 13, the Governor of Maryland issued two citations, the Speaker of the House of Delegates wrote to extend her congratulations, and a Member of the Howard County Council issued a certificate of recognition.

Governor Wes Moore issued two citations to mark World Falun Dafa Day and Master Li Hongzhi’s birthday. The citation reads: “Because of your demonstration of high integrity and ability, meriting our great trust and respect. we are most pleased to award you the Governor's Citation in appreciation of your outstanding services to the citizens of this State.”

Speaker Joseline A. Peña-Melnyk wrote: “It is my great pleasure to extend heartfelt congratulations in recognition of World Falun Dafa Day, to be celebrated on May 13, 2026.
“Falun Dafa, also known as Falun Gong, is an ancient spiritual discipline rooted in the Buddhist tradition, centered on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. The practice encourages individuals to cultivate integrity, kindness, resilience, and inner peace in their daily lives.
“Founded by Mr. Li Hongzhi, a four-time Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Falun Dafa has reached millions worldwide. His teachings are widely accessible at no cost online, reflecting the practice's commitment to openness and service.
“For over two decades, dedicated volunteers have maintained practice sites across Maryland—including Columbia, Cumberland, Ellicott City, Rockville, and Silver Spring—providing opportunities for residents to learn and benefit from this discipline.
“This occasion also serves to recognize the perseverance of practitioners who continue to uphold their freedom of belief in the face of ongoing persecution in China.”

The certificate reads, “For over 25 years, Falun Gong practitioners in Howard County have run two practice sites for free instruction of Falun Gong exercises in the Parks of Columbia and Ellicott City to serve the community.
“May 13, 2026, celebrates the birthday of its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, by millions around the world. Mr. Li Hongzhi is a four-time nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize. His teachings and lectures have been translated into 53 languages.
“As a member of the Howard County Council representing the Fifth Councilmanic District, I hereby recognize Sunday, May 13, 2026, as World Falun Dafa Day, marking the 34th Anniversary of Falun Dafa's introduction to the public in 1992.”
