(Minghui.org) An 82-year-old woman in Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, was sentenced to one year with two years probation in April 2026 because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Given Ms. Lin Canxian’s advanced age, she has been allowed to serve time at home.

Ms. Lin met two students from the Yingtan Normal School while dining at a restaurant in 2024. She told them about Falun Gong and gave one student a Falun Gong booklet. The student accepted the material and then called the police.

A group of officers soon arrived and took Ms. Lin to the Jiangbian Police Station. Given her dangerously high blood pressure and disability in one leg, she was denied admission to the Yingtan City Detention Center and was released.

The police frequently harassed Ms. Lin at home and took her for physical exams. As her blood pressure remained high, the detention center refused to admit her each time the police attempted to detain her.

The police submitted Ms. Lin’s case to the Guixi City Procuratorate at an unknown time. Guixi is under the administration of Yingtan.

The Guixi City Court sentenced Ms. Lin to one year with two years probation in April 2026. She is allowed to serve time at home, but is required to report to the local justice bureau every month.
